NFL Week 11 Recap--My Predictions

Updated on November 27, 2015

Randal Bruce vs ESPN

Ladies and Gentlemen Randal is back!!!!! After weeks of being in the dumps I am alive. Randal finished the week 12-2. YEAOH!!!!!! Woooooo, I needed that. It feels good. The leaders at ESPN Wickersham and Ditka at 10-4. Finally, I smoked them. That may lead to a victory cigar. No, no Randal act like you've been there before. Overall, I'm 87-73. The ESPN overall leader is Chris Mortensen at 102-58. Dang! I won't let that keep me down. I'm ahead of Eric Allen who is in last place at 85-75. I'll take it. Baby steps. I feel so much better than I did last week.

You can see my picks below. There is a link that will lead you to my division by division breakdown and picks and the next link will lead you to ESPN's.

Randal's Picks

My picks are in bold on the away and home columns.

The Jaguars get an ugly win over the Titans

The Jaguars used their ugly jerseys to confuse and stun the Titans in this very ugly game. This was two very bad football teams battling in a very bad divisional game. The Jaguars get a necessary win to keep their name in the conversation of winning this division. No one should be fooled into thinking this Jaguar team is progressing. They are however doing what they need to win. I like their fight and that you have to give them a lot of credit for. The Titans however, will have another long off season.

Final Score: Jaguars 19-Titans 13

I picked the Jaguars because they were at home.

The Colts don't need Luck to beat the Falcons

Gutsy win on the road for the Colts. They are now 3-0 without Andrew Luck. This team is digging deep and you have to admire their fight. Hasselbeck wasn't great, but he did enough for them to win. The Falcons are backsliding after that great start. They are still in good shape for the wild card, but the Panthers at 10-0 are running away with this division.

Final Score: Colts 24-Falcons 21

I picked the Falcons because they were at home. They usually play well in the Georgia Dome.

The Broncos beat the Bears in a close one in Chicago

No Peyton and a little bit of a problem, but they won. That's all that matters. Brock Osweiler was efficent and that's what this team needs right now. It was a good debut for him. He went 20-27 for 250 yards and 2 TD's. Denver went in and took care of business without Manning. If Osweiler continues to play like this, don't expect to see Manning back in the line up.

Final Score: Broncos 17-Bears 15

I picked the Broncos before the season because I thought they have more talent and they do, but I also thought Peyton Manning would return to his old self. They didn't need him today and for my pick's sake, thank goodness.

The Lions score late to beat the Raiders at home

I don't know what to say here. Just when you thought the Raiders have turned a corner they let you down. Just when you thought the Lions have quit, they show some fight. Bizarre. It's shocking that the Lions get a late score to win the game and hold on. Their defense showed up today and held the Raiders to 214 yards of offense.

Final Score: Lions 18-Raiders 13

I picked the Lions before the season because I thought coming off their playoff birth the year before, they were the better team. I also thought the Raiders would struggle more under new coach and system.

The Cowboys beat the Dolphins in Romo's Return

The Cowboys would have ran away from the NFC East if Tony Romo wouldn't have gotten hurt, but he did and they have an uphill climb. It's a lot easier now that he's back. They are 3-0 in the games that he has started. Thanks to this division being awful they are only 2 games out of 1st place. Romo was rusty, but his return sparked life into this team. Darren McFadden carried the load with 129 yards rushing. The defense was helped as well. They didn't spend as much time on the field. They held the Dolphins to just 210 yards of offense and only 9 1st downs all game. That's how important Romo is. He helped both sides of the ball with his presence today.

Final Score: Cowboys 24-Dolphins 14

I picked the Cowboys before the season because I thought they were the superior team.

The Bucs beat down Philly in their own backyard

It's funny after the 1st game of the season everyone was convinced Mariota was better than Winston. Winston has only improved and Mariota is up and down. The more Jameis Winston matures the scarier the Bucs get. He tossed 5 TD's in the dismantling of Philly. Doug Martin exploded with 235 yards rushing. LaVonte David had 2 INT's with 1 going for a TD. Gerald McCoy had 1.5 sacks. All helping the Bucs lay the smack down on Philly. Bradford is struggling and hurt and Sanchez stinks. What's next for Chip Kelly? Maybe a quick exit back to college?

Final Score: Buccaneers-45-Eagles 17

I picked the Eagles because I thought they would be in the hunt for the playoffs. The Bucs are better than I could have imagined with a rookie QB.

The Panthers punch the Redskins in the mouth for an easy win

The curious case of Kirk Cousins continues. Great game followed by awful game. 4-0 when he doesn't turn the ball over 0-6 when he does. Last week he was great and this week he was awful with 3 turnovers. He was not alone in being awful. The Redskins coaches and players stunk it up. Mainly because the Panthers are the real deal. They are what a good football team looks like. They handled their business and looked damn good kicking the Redskins teeth in. Cam Newton was magnificent. He threw 5 TD's and 4 of those were in the 1st half. The Panthers did whatever they wanted to on both sides of the ball. The Panthers defense held the Redskins to just 186 yards of offense. They had 5 sacks an INT and 4 Fumble Recoveries. All while holding the Redskins to just 9 1st downs. The Panthers are looking down on the rest of the NFC. Cam could be the MVP and Ron Rivera could be the coach of the year. The Redskins need to decide between Kirk Cousins or Jay Gruden. I don't think you can bring both back. I'd bring back Cousins and get rid of Gruden. Gruden can't motivate, coach or evaluate talent. They need to let the season play out but if today is any indication, I think they already know. They still have a chance to win this awful division but they'll have to win on the road at some point.

Final Score: Panthers 44-Redskins 16

I picked the Panthers before the season because I thought they were a better team and franchise.

The Ravens get a much needed win over the Rams but lose Flacco in the process

It's time for the Rams to admit the Jeff Fisher experiment was a failure. I don't see this team making the playoffs and if they don't he needs to be gone. They have talent, but the wrong man leading them. This has been a disappointing year for the Ravens. They got a hard fought win, but they lose Joe Flacco for the season with an Achilles injury. This team keeps getting dealt a tough hand. But you got to like the fight, they still have left in them. They held the Rams to 213 yards of offense and recovered 4 fumbles.

Final Score: Ravens 16-Rams 13

I picked the Ravens before the season because I thought they had the better coaching staff. It has been an epic fail this season for John Harbaugh but I still believe he's a better coach than Jeff Fisher.

The Texans beat the Jets to move into a tie for 1st in AFC South

The Jets have exceeded my expectations for this season. I think they are a well coached tough team and this was a tough loss, but they are still in the mix for the Wild Card. The Texans are about where I'd thought they be. They got a big win today and have a good shot at winning the awful AFC South. They have turned their season around. It's amazing with such poor QB play. It speaks to the work the coaching staff is putting in. They are just finding ways to win and stay in the hunt. DeAndre Hopkins continues to shine. He had a big day in this big win. Hopkins had 5 catches for 118 yards and 2 TD's.

Final Score: Texans 24-Jets 17

I thought before the season the Texans would continue to improve and that this would be a learning season for the Jets under new coach Todd Bowles. That's why I picked the Texans.

The Chiefs squash the Chargers in San Diego

The AFC Playoff picture is getting real interesting. Before the season, I thought the Chargers would be in the mix, but they are a huge disappointment and you feel like changes will be made at the end of the season. They are getting worse by the minute. On the other side you have to give Andy Reid a lot of credit. Early in the season they were blowing leads late and it looked like they were falling apart. They have rebounded and now are right in the mix for the Wild Card. Alex Smith has been a steady efficent game manager. He was 20-25 for 253 yards. The defense has been impressive holding the Chargers to just 201 yards of offense. Tamba Hali was bringing the pressure with 2 Sacks and his running mate Justin Houston had an INT that he returned for 6. They have been on fire.

Final Score: Chiefs 33-Chargers 3

I picked the Chiefs in this game before the season on a hunch.

The Packers get a huge win on the road against division rival Vikings

The Packers stopped their 3 game losing streak and let the Vikings know that if they want to win the NFC North, it's not gonna be that easy. The Packers needed this game bad. They won ugly. A win is a win. Aaron Rodgers wasn't good in this game, but he threw 2 TD's and was good enough. Eddie Lacy gave the offense balanced by rushing for 100 yards. James Jones was Rodgers top target with 6 catches for 109 and a TD. The Vikings are a good team, but the Packers showed them they still have work to do.

Final Score: Packers 30-Vikings 13

I picked the Packers because I thought they would be rolling at this time in the season and be too much for the Vikings.

The Seahawks win easy at home against the 49ers

The Seahawks needed to beat this awful 49ers team at home. It's a divisional game and they needed this win to stay in the hunt for the Wild Card. Their offense came alive and they needed it and it needs to be more consistent. Russell Wilson was good he was 24-29 and tossed 3 TD's. RB Thomas Rawls stepped up in Lynch's absence. Rawls had 209 yards rushing and a TD. It was an easy win for the Seahawks.

Final Score: Seahawks 29-49ers 13

I picked the Seahawks because they have the superior team and coaching staff.

The Cardinals edge the Bengals with a late game FG

Beating the Bengals has to be sweet for Carson Palmer. Palmer tossed 4 TD's in this shootout with his old team. The Cardinals have just won 2 big games in a row. 1 at home and the other on the road in Seattle. I think that could be huge going forward in the playoffs. They are sitting strong at 8-2 and looking like a legit contender in the NFC. The Bengals have now lost 2 in a row. No cause for concern, but you wonder what their mental stake is after starting 8-0. This is a team that doesn't need to let doubt creep in.

Final Score: Cardinals 34-Bengal 31

I picked the Cardinals in a tough one because they are both super talented teams with solid coaching staffs. I think i went with the Cardinals because they were at home.

The Pats beat the Bills again

That was a good old fashion divisional slug fight. The Pats just prove why they are the champions. They can beat you in so many ways. There was nothing pretty about this game. The Pats improve to 10-0 and the AFC is pretty much a wrap. If they beat Denver next week, you can pretty much plan on playing AFC home games in Foxboro again. There are no moral victories for Buffalo by playing Pats close. I have say though the Bills have already exceeded my expectations and are in the hunt for the Wild Card. These next few weeks will be crucial for them.

Final Score: Patriots 20-Bills 13

I picked the Patriots because they have Tom Brady. It's just that simple.
