Legendary Nascar Drivers

1. Richard Petty: Petty won The Nascar Championship seven different times and he has many records including: winning two hundred races, including winning a season record of twenty seven races and over seven hundred top ten finishes. Petty is hands down the best driver in Nascar history. His name is synonymous with the word Nascar. Racing is in his blood and he was raised around the race track.

2. Dale Earnhardt Sr.: Earnhardt won seven Nascar Championships along with Richard Petty. He had seventy five top ten finishes and seven poles to go along with his twenty one total wins. Dale Sr. was inducted into every Motorsports Hall of Fame. This includes all of the locations in the U.S. He passed away while doing something that he loved most and he will always be missed. R.I.P.

3. Jeff Gordon: Gordon has eighty six wins and four hundred five top ten finishes in The Sprint Cup. He has won Daytona three times and he is a four time series champion in Nascar. Gordan is always in the mix and he is the first driver to reach 100 million in career earnings. He is one of the most loved and most hated drivers in the sports storied history. One thing is for sure is that Gordon is a dedicated driver who thrives under intense pressure. Gordon can only get better since he continues to race and at his age he has time to gain even more victories.

4. David Pearson: Pearson grabbed three wins in The Sprint Cup series and the rookie of the Year award in 1960. D.P. has one hundred five total wins and three hundred sixty six top ten finishes to go along with one hundred thirteen total poles. Pearson was known to come from behind in races and his determination on the track is second to none.

5. Rusty Wallace: Wallace had twenty nine races in which he had eight top ten finishes. In The Sprint Cup, Wallace has fifty five wins, three hundred forty nine top ten finishes and he has poled thirty six different times.He was Rookie of the Year in 1984 and Winston Cup Champion in 1989. Rusty was a finesse driver who could weave in and out of traffic with relative ease.

6. Darrell Waltrip: Waltrip was a three time Winston Cup Champion and he had eighty four wins, three hundred ninety top ten finishes and fifty nine Poles in the Sprint Cup Series. He had twenty two, top five finishes in 1982, which is a world record. Waltrip was a fan favorite and he was a very intense and focused driver on the track.

7. Mark Martin: Mark Martin has forty wins, four hundred forty three top ten finishes and fifty five Poles in the Sprint Cup Series during his racing career. Martin has raced in eight hundred thirty seven different races and has two hundred sixty eight top five finishes. Martin is getting holder but he still competes with passion. Martin has a large fan base and his longevity in the sport cannot be denied.

8. Cale Yarborough: Yarborough had eighty three, seventy Poles and three hundred nineteen top ten finishes in his Nascar career. He won the Daytona 500 four times and he also has a rarity to his credit which is he won three consecutive Championships. Underrated to say the very least because he was one heck of a driver.

9. Bill Elliot: Elliot has forty four wins, fifty five Poles and three hundred twenty Top Ten finishes in the Sprint Cup series and won the Winston Cup Championship in 1988. Elliot is one of the most popular drivers in history.

10. Jimmie Johnson: Johnson has won five back to back Nascar Championships during his young career. In the Sprint Cup Johnson has Poled twenty six times, won fifty eight races and finished in the top ten two hundred forty times. Time is on his side and as long as he keeps his head on strait he should advance up this list.

Dale Earnhardt was an aggressive and skilled Nascar driver and the entire country mourned on the day that he passed. R.I.P. Dale. You are the best.

There were so many fans who were so upset when Dale Earnhardt Sr. passed away at the race. For years after his death and even toady, the anniversary of his death is still celebrated even today. His son Dale Earnhardt Jr. is carrying on this racing families' legend and after a slow start he is starting to fulfill the family raving legacy.
