The question that always gets asked is: "What is the best Fastpitch Softball Bat?" According to the website: www.thecoachreviews.com, the answer is:

IT DEPENDS!!!

  • Are you a Power Hitter or a Slapper?
  • Do you have a Slow or Fast Bat Swing Speed?
  • Do you prefer Composites Bats or Aluminum/Metal Bats?
  • Which Bat should I use in Cold or Hot Weather?
  • Can I use my Bat in in Batting Cages?
  • What is a tough, durable, not-too-expensive Team Bat?

The following "Best Fastpitch Bats" lists are based on The Coach's personal review PLUS over 2,100 reviews by Players, Coaches and Parents:

  • Fast Bat Swing Speed? - use an end-loaded bat, you'll get more power to your hits.
  • Extreme Weather (Hot or Cold?) - don't use composite bats, use aluminum/metal bats.
  • Batting Cages? - No, use a back-up bat (or last year's bat).

As a slap-hitter of the 1960s I used the heaviest bottle-bat in the game. There was only one other who used it and that was Bob Bomar of the legendary Long Beach Nitehawks. It doesn't matter how light or heavy the bat, the secret is bat control.
