Steve McClaren All Smiles.

With Newcastle United placed at 18th in the English Premier League they were really up against it as new manager Steve McClaren who once managed the English national team took up the reigns of the Tyneside team.

He and Newcastle United had not got off to the best of starts this season and found themselves in the drop zone of the Premiership losing many of their matches to put themselves in that spot.

That said last week they played Liverpool and the pundits expected the high flying Merseyside team to destroy Newcastle United based on Newcastle's woeful performances in previous matches but some how, some where, some how Newcastle dug deep and produced a stunning victory over Liverpool that no one perhaps not even the wisest of the wise when it came to sports pundits could ever have predicted.

Then yesterday they were playing a team with a real buzz about them Tottenham Hotspur with such good players as Harry Kane who has found himself up front alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney when playing for England.

The game was nil - nil for a while and Newcastle were playing not at their beloved St James's Park stadium in Newcastle located in the north east of England but in London at Tottenham's ground.

Suffice it to say Newcastle found it within themselves to crush Tottenham courtesy of Ayzoze Perez and Mitrovic. Subsequently Newcastle United have moved out of the relegation zone (drop zone) and moved up to 15th place in the Premiership. Norwich now replace Newcastle United in the relegation zone.

Steve McClaren will obviously be delighted as will the players and loyal fans and maybe just maybe Newcastle can build on this foundation of beating two great Premiership sides and hopefully stay in the Prem now.

Euro Tournament 2016 Coming From France.

When the draw came to establish who would be in Group B of the 2016 European football (soccer) championship the national teams are: Russia, Slovakia, England and Wales.

Chris Coleman the Welsh coach and England coach Roy Hodgson were both present at the gathering when the teams were announced. Chris Coleman was all smiles when he heard the news but admitted he would rather play any team other than England because there will be a media circus around the game. When ever England play Wales whether it be rugby or football there is a great fuss made about it as both teams are old rivals.

For example during the Rugby World Cup at Twickenham home of English rugby the Welsh team beat England on their own turf which was utterly humiliating given the hype around England that they would go far in this competition as the World Cup was coming from England. But the Welsh whose national past time is rugby even though the English invented it beat England.

Now perhaps England have the chance to get revenge for their beaten rugby team against Wales but this time via football. The game literally kicks off 16 June 2016 in Lens, France and it should prove a great game with the likes of Gareth Bale plying his trade in Spain and Arsenal's Aaron Ramsay no doubt in Chris Coleman's thoughts as he seeks to assemble his Welsh squad next year. Meanwhile England have a plethora of great players to pick for the tournament like Harry Kane or Jamie Vardy.

Roy Hodgson and Chris Coleman were all smiles after as two of the three British representative teams in this tournament the other being Northern Ireland and wished each other good luck for next year.
