2016 No Mercy Predictions
Following the WWE Draft, Smackdown has been on a roll with their weekly shows and PPVs. Even though, their roster is short, Smackdown continues to keep fans invested by providing 4-star matches and engaging storylines.
Much like their previous PPV, Backlash, No Mercy appears to be another awesome PPV.
So what can we expect from this Sunday's PPV?
Jack Swagger vs. Baron Corbin
This is a feud that just started and to be honest, very few in the WWE Universe is invested in this feud.
It's great to see Swagger on Smackdown, where he'll have a chance to shine. Immediately after being drafted to the Blue brand, he was thrust into a rivalry with Baron Corbin.
As for Corbin, for the past few months, he's been utilized more on Smackdown. He's quickly become one of the resident heels that fans love to hate.
The All American Hero and The Lone Wolf will face each other for the first time on Sunday, so which one walks away the winner.
Prediction: Corbin has a bit of momentum going for him so I'd hate to see him lose that. But my gut's telling me that Swagger walks away with a victory this Sunday.
Carmella vs Nikki Bella
This is a feud that has been heating up Smackdown's women's division.
Longest-reigning Divas champion returned from a neck injury to a warm welcome from everyone, except Carmella. After being drafted to Smackdown, newcomer Carmella has struggled to connect with the audience. But a heel turn with an attack on fan favorite Nikki Bella has gained the Universe's attention.
This is a feud that I see lasting a while and No Mercy is just the first of many PPV matches, the two women will have.
Prediction: This is a match that I feel could go either way. But I see Nikki picking up the pinfall, thus further increasing Carmella's anger.
The Usos vs Heath Slater & Rhyno
After winning the tag team titles at Backlash, Heath Slater & Rhyno prepare for their first championship defense against The Usos.
The heel turn for The Usos has been great, it's just the right thing they need to keep them in the spotlight. As for Heath Slater & Rhyno, they have great chemistry, yet they haven't been featured prominently following their win. The lack of spotlight on the tag team champions has some fans worried this will be the end of Slater and Rhyno.
Both of these teams are great for the tag team division, but only one can be a winner.
Prediction: As much as I love Slater & Rhyno as a tag team, I think The Usos are going to win this match.
The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler
This is a top-notch feud with two of Smackdown's hottest stars.
Intercontinental champion The Miz has had one of the longest-reigning championship reigns. He's not afraid to boost about his accomplishment, although a majority of that praise needs to go to his wife, Maryse who helped him keep the title.
As for Ziggler, he's one of the passionate wrestlers in the WWE. Following his lose for the WWE championship at SummerSlam, he's set his sights on Miz's Intercontinental championship.
Ziggler and The Miz have amazing chemistry, which makes the feud so great. The Miz is a natural born heel, while Ziggler is one of those underdogs who root for everytime.
Not only is Miz's championship on the line, but Ziggler has put his career up for grabs too. There's no doubt the two will put on a heck of a match.
Prediction: Despite rumors of him leaving, I'm predicting Ziggler walking out as the new Intercontinental champion.
Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt
After cancelling at Backlash, we finally get the anticipated match between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt.
For the last few weeks, both men have stepped up in this feud. Bray Wyatt has tried to get into the head of Randy Orton, yet The Viper has proven he's one step ahead of the leader of the Wyatt family.
With Orton not showing any signs of fear, Bray has to amp up his game if he wants to beat The Viper.
Heading into this match, both men are long overdue for victories. Wyatt loses at PPVs is outstanding with many fans wondering if his time's up. Meanwhile, after returning from an injury and his controversial Brock Lesnar match, Orton is out to prove he's still one of the toughest stars in the business.
Prediction: All signs are pointing to an Orton victory, but I see Bray Wyatt winning in this battle.
Becky Lynch vs Alexa Bliss
One thing you have to admit about Smackdown is they give all their SuperStars a chance.
Alexa Bliss was one of the many NXT SuperStars to be drafted to the main roster. She's a remarkable heel, who is set on ruling Smackdown's women division. However, she's going to fight Women's champion Becky Lynch for that role.
Since being drafted to Smackdown, Becky Lynch has established herself as a top star in the WWE women's division. No longer is she being overshadowed by the likes of Charlotte or Sasha Banks. As the blue brand's Women's Champion, Lynch is coming into her own. The fiery Lass Kicker has shown she's ready for any fight.
Will she be ready for Alexa Bliss come Sunday?
Prediction: Becky Lynch will retain in this match. There's no way the WWE can take the belt off of her this soon.
AJ Styles vs John Cena vs Dean Ambrose
Add 3 of Smackdown's top stars plus the WWE championship and you have one hell of a match.
After winning the championship at Backlash, AJ Styles has asserted himself as "The Face That Runs the Place." With the coveted gold belt around his waist, he has a right to stake his claim as Smackdown's top star.
However, his old adversary John Cena returned and immediatley set his sights on the WWE championship. Cena is looking to make history at No Mercy by winning his 16th WWE championship, tying him with Ric Flair.
Yet, both men have to watch out for Dean Ambrose.
Ambrose received a lot of criticism following the Stone Cold podcast for his relaxed attitude. Many fans started to turn on Ambrose by calling him stale. Yet, following his championship loss, we've seen an edgier Dean Ambrose. His promos and ring work have improved tremendously as his feud with John Cena heats up. With an angry Ambrose on the loose, there's no telling what lengths he'll go to win the title.
Prediction: AJ Styles will steal a victory. Cena and Ambrose are too focused on fighting with each other so that's going to cost them their championship dreams.
