Opening Ceremony London 2012

I kept watching my TV on two different NBC channels anxious to see the Opening Ceremony for the London 2012 Olympic Games only to find out that those here in the United States Of America don't get to watch it live. Boo NBC!

So I go onto the special website NBC has setup for the Olympic Games thinking OK I can watch it online. Well if I had a Cable TV subscriber account that I could verify then I would have been in. But since I'm staying at a motel and I don't have access to this businesses account information no joy for me.

After doing a bit of Google'ing I find the official Olympic YouTube channel's Opening Ceremony - London 2012 Olympic Games. This is blocked in the USA, it says "That uploader has not made this video available in your country". I find the BBC's IPlayer application that had a Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies Live Stream. This one says "I'm sorry, we can't show this content in your area."

Finally I find a complete copy of the Opening Ceremony for the 2012 Olympic Games posted on YouTube by a user. I link to it below if your in the USA and having as much trouble as I did trying to find this online. Well before I could even hit the 'publish' button the one copy I found on YouTube has already been blocked! It almost seems like a conspiracy to make sure Americans can only watch any phase of the Olympics only when NBC decides you can.

It seems I'm not the only one upset with NBC for them not showing the opening ceremonies live. See NBC defends blackout of opening ceremonies. It says there "NBC wants viewers to know: The kickoff of the London Olympics was just too complicated to watch live." It is my opinion NBC wanted to show it tape-delayed during prime time to milk the event for every dime it was worth at the expense of the American public, many of whom would have preferred to watch this live as it happened. Are we really to believe NBC is so incompetent they can't do a live broadcast? This is basically what they are saying huh.

So far I've only watched about half of it, I paused it to post this hub real quick. What I've seen so far it's very spectacular and worth watching. I'll add more about it once I finish watching it soon.

For now I can't express how much I'm disappointed with NBC in how they have handled the broadcasting, or lack thereof, of the Opening Ceremony for the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Now only have they made it impossible for American viewers to watch it live on TV, they have done the same for many on their website if you can't verify a Cable TV account. What about all those who use a satellite TV service?

Is this what we have to expect from NBC for the next two some weeks of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games? I sure hope not!
