Pill Box Hiking Trail in Kailua Hawaii

Do you enjoy hiking?

If you do, try this one in Kailua, Oahu Hawaii. It’s a short hiking trail overlooking Lanikai beach.

These are features of the hike as you can see them on the photo video presentation.

It is little hilly with exposed red dirt. Some areas are rocky. Mountain is covered with lots of small Kiawe trees and plants. There are no tall trees to give you any shade.

When you reach the top, you get a great view of Kailua town, Kaneohe Bay Military base to Waimanalo and beautiful ocean view of Kailua beach. You can view twin islands and Lanikai Town below.

Not recommend right after a heavy rain. It will get very slippery with mud.

Not recommend for small children as it is steep and the ground is uneven. However we saw a 3 years old little girl going up with her parents.

Be careful when you are going up and down, there is a cliff on one side.

Here are a few things you should take with you.

Suntan lotion, drinking water, good hiking shoes, camera and etc.

Pillbox hiking trail is located near Mid Pacific Golf Country Club.

You drive to Aalapapa Drive and take a right turn at Kaelepule Dr:

Park along the side of the wall next to the golf course and walk up the road facing Blue Stone Town Homes on the right. Make sure to lock your doors and do not leave anything valuable on your car seats. Lock them in the trunk of your car.

Trail is right at the bottom and there is a small sign in the front.

Have fun..
