The Pro Wrestling Illustrated Top Women Wrestlers of 2011

Updated on March 17, 2018

The Pro Wrestling Illustrated Top Women Wrestlers of 2011 With Madison Eagles, Mercedes Martinez, Mickie James, Natalya, Madison Rayne And More

Every year the sports magazine Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) comes out with it's list of the top five hundred pro wrestlers in the world.
And since 2008, they have released a list of the top fifty female pro wrestlers in the world as well.

The list is a little misleading because even though it's called 2011, it tracks their careers in 2010.
So shouldn't it be "The PWI Top Female Wrestlers of 2010" since 2011 isn't even over yet? is the PWI list for 2011 with women wrestlers from WWE, TNA, ROH, SHIMMER and other wrestling promotions.

By the way, pay attention to how many Indy wrestlers are on the list this year.

Australian female wrestler Madison Eagles
Australian female wrestler Madison Eagles

1. Madison Eagles

We start right off with an Indy wrestler, Madison Eagles.
This six foot one lady was number 15 last year, so she's had quite a big jump up.
She was born on June 5th, 1984 in Sydney, Australia and made her pro wrestling debut in 2001.
Madison has worked for wrestling promotions like Heartland Wrestling Association,World Class Extreme Wrestling, EGO Pro Wrestling, International Wrestling Australia, Pro Wrestling Women's Alliance and Shimmer Women Athletes.
As of this article, she is the PWWA and Shimmer Champion.

Mercedes Martinez
Mercedes Martinez

2. Mercedes Martinez

And the number two wrestler is also an Indy wrestling star.
Mercedes Martinez was born on November 17th, 1980 in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Last year, Mercedes was third, so she only moved up one notch.
She made her pro wrestling debut on November 12th, 2000.
Mercedes has worked for Shimmer Women Athletes, World Xtreme Wrestling, Women Superstars Uncensored, Full Impact Pro and in Wrestlicious as Maria Toro, the Bullfighter.

Mickie James
Mickie James

3. Mickie James

The first mainstream wrestler to enter the list is TNA Knockout, Mickie James.
Mickie was born on August 31st, 1979 in Montpelier, Virginia and made her wrestling debut in 1999.
She has wrestled for promotions like Covey Promotions, CyberSpace Wrestling Federation, Delaware Championship Wrestling, Impact Championship Wrestling, NWA Shockwave, WWE and TNA.
Last year Mickie came in at number 8 on the list.

4. Natalya

The first WWE Diva to enter the list is Natalya (Natalie Neidhart) who almong with Beth Phoenix, may be two of the best wrestlers the WWE has.
Of course Natalya comes from a serious wrestling background (she's the daughter of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and Ellie Hart, who is the daughter of Stu Hart) and not only was she trained at the infamous Hart family "Dungeon", she was trained in MMA as well.
Besides the WWE, Natalya has worked for Stampede Wrestling and SuperGirls Wrestling.
Last year Natalya was ranked 29, making this a huge jump for her.

Natalya was born on May 27th, 1982 in Calgary, Canada.

Madison Rayne
Madison Rayne

5. Madison Rayne

Back to the TNA Knockouts with Madison Rayne.
Madison (Ashley Nichole Simmons) was born on February 5th, 1986 in West Lafayette, Ohio.
She made her pro wrestling debut in May of 2005 and has worked for wrestling promotions like Ohio Championship Wrestling, Shimmer Women Athletes, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and you may have seen her in Wrestlicious as "Cheerleader" Amber Lively.
Interestingly enough, in Wrestlicious she teamed up with her TNA "Beautiful People" partner Lacey Von Erich.
Madison came in at number 6 last year.

Cheerleader Melissa
Cheerleader Melissa

6. Cheerleader Melissa

WWE and TNA can't catch a break as another Indy wrestler comes in at number 6.
Well...she used to be a TNA Knockout so this is TNA's fault.
Melissa Marie Anderson was born on August 17th, 1982 in Los Angeles, California.
You may have seen her wrestle under a variety of names like Cheerleader Melissa, Raisha Saeed, Alissa Flash and many more.
Heck, she used both Raisha Saeed and Alissa Flash in TNA at the same time.
Cheerleader Melissa made her pro wrestling debut in August of 1999 and was the first woman to win the Cauliflower Alley Club Future Legend Award in 2004.
She has wrestled for  All Pro Wrestling, ChickFight, Northern Championship Wrestling, River City Wrestling, TNA and SHIMMER.

Beth Phoenix

7. Beth Phoenix

Finally the WWE gets another entry at the number 7 slot.
As I mentioned before, Beth is probably one of the best actual wrestlers the WWE has.
She was born Elizabeth Kocianski on November 24th, 1980 in Elmira, New York and had an extensive varsity wrestling background before turning pro in May 2001.
Besides the WWE, "The Glamazon" has worked for Far North Wrestling, GLORY Wrestling and did a stint in Ohio Valley Wrestling before moving up to the WWE's majors.

Tara (Lisa Marie Varon)
Tara (Lisa Marie Varon)

8. Tara

Tara (Lisa Marie Varon) was a bodybuilder and fitness competitor before she started wrestling.
Born on February 10th, 1971 in San Bernardino, California she was actually brought into pro wrestling by Chyna who ran into her at a gym.
Lisa debuted in the then WWF as Victoria in 2002, but she had made a few appearances for them before that.
She left the WWE in January 2009, trained in MMA for awhile then debuted in TNA as Tara in May of 2009.
Lisa held the WWE Women's Championship twice and the TNA Women's Knockout Championship four times.
In TNA she is also one half of the TNA Knockout Tag Team Champions with Ms.Brooke Tessmacher.

9. MsChif

Back to the Indys again with one of my favorites, MsChif.
Rachel Collins was born on June 11th, 19?? in St. Louis, MO.
She made her pro wrestling debut in July of 2001 and has worked for ChickFight, Coastal Wrestling Association, Gateway Championship Wrestling, Ring of Honor and Shimmer Women Athletes.
MsChif blew a lot of people's minds when she showed up on the PBS series "The Secret Life of Scientists and Engineers" as a genetics scientist who works in a microbiology laboratory.
Yeah, it's true.
Last year she was also at number 9.

10. Sara Del Rey

Rounding out the top ten we have a lady that many consider to be one of the best female wrestlers working today, Sara Del Rey.
Sara Amato was born on November 13, 1980 in Martinez, California.
She made her pro wrestling debut in 2001 and since then has worked all over the world including stints with ARSION in Japan and Lucha Libre Femenil in Mexico.

Shows you how far behind I've gotten on pro wrestling in general--I didn't recognize a single name on the list! Only Natalya even LOOKS slightly familiar, and that could be nothing more than that somewhat "Are you one of my ex-wives?" question her photo inspires.

(I remember both #4 and #6 getting a bit of a squint like that around alimony time.)

Anyway, nice rundown--but I'll bet you and your blade could take any one of 'em.

      Voted up and interesting.
