Return of Connor McDavid

Updated on January 26, 2016

Could the play of Connor McDavid be what the Edmonton Oilers need to become great again? The Oilers used to be a successful franchise which saw some talented players such as the great one, Wayne Gretzky. However, since then the Edmonton franchise has struggled and hasn't won the Stanley Cup for twenty-six years. Fortunately for Oilers fans, Connor McDavid could be the spark that could ignite the talent that the franchise currently owns such as Taylor Hall, Leon Draisaitl, Darnell Nurse, Nail Yakupov, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Jordan Eberle. Connor McDavid's shifty, fast, and exciting play has the ability to bring out the skill that is being harbored inside of the talent that the Oilers have in their current lineup. However, after being utilised for only 13 games, McDavid suffered a broken collarbone in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Since his injury, the Oilers have lost a majority of their games after going on a short-lived winning streak. Luckily for Oilers fans, coaches, and players, Connor McDavid will be returning to the lineup sooner rather than later. For the moment, McDavid has been sent down the Oilers' AHL counterpart, the Bakersfield Condors, so that he can experience a week of high-intensity practices before his much-awaited return to the NHL lineup. It will be very interesting to see what impact McDavid can have on the Oilers organization after starting the season off fast with twelve points in thirteen games.
