The Trail in Pictures
A Perfect Trail
If you ever visit Victoria on Vancouver Island in BC, be sure to take a walk around Rithets Peat Bog which is the last remaining peat bog on the Saanich Peninsula.
A unique area of conservation the park was donated by the Guinness Family in 1994.
Volunteers from Rithets Bog Conservation Society http://www.rithetsbog.org/ carefully re-plant and conserve the delicate natural infrastructire which is home to rare plants and wildlife.
A sanctuary for walkers and dog owners the trail offers beautiful views and a peaceful escape from urban life.
Just under 3km the trail is suitable for all levels of fitness and can be walked in 60 minutes or less.
Take your camera, you may see a woodpecker or a rare songbird or , as we did, encounter Brian the snail taking a walk on a branch.
