Robert Commits to Play Soccer for Guilford
Decision Made
Finally, the decision is made. For over two years, Robert Cornelius has weighed the pros and cons of several schools. Some of the schools did not have the academic courses he sought. Others didn't have a spot on the roster for Robert's position. Now, all of that stress is behind Robert as he commits to play for Guilford College.
It will not take Robert long to make an impact at Guilford. He has the technical ability to be a good college player, but it is his awareness that will get him into the lineup quickly. Robert has been able to read the game well for a long time.
The Quakers are lucky to have him.

From Day One
Robert Cornelius joined the Forbush Falcons four years ago. The bushy headed freshman attended a soccer meeting with his dad just before the summer of his freshman year. It was easy to tell that soccer meant a lot to him, and his family. The support of his parents cannot go unnoticed in this equation as both David and Terri have been there for Robert every step of the way.
Robert made an immediate impact by scoring his first goal against Starmount from the midfield position. He was rewarded for his play with a move to the center back position. From that point forward scoring goals took a backseat to denying opportunities for the other team; something that came naturally to Robert.
Robert spent the rest of his career at Forbush High School in the starting lineup for the Falcons. He led the team even before he became a captain. His work ethic and commitment to the team's success made him the leader.
Robert earned honors throughout his years as a Falcon. In his senior year, he was awarded the Player of the Year honor for the Western Piedmont Athletic Conference and Region 9. He also made 1st team All-State.
Robert leaves the Falcon program in search of a bigger stage. We are all proud of his accomplishments, and look forward to seeing him play at the next level.
Friends
Robert was lucky enough to have a couple of friends attend his commitment photo session. Anna Harris and Austin Sanchez were gracious enough to support Robert in his decision. Robert and Austin shared a common belief of the team first. Anna helped to rally the fan support during the Falcon matches.
