Joe Louis: He holds the record for the most title defensive in boxing history with twenty five and the longest reign in heavyweight history holding the championship for over 11 years.
George Wallace: He is a former Governor of Alabama and a former two time Golden Glove Champion for the state as a Bantamweight Boxer.
Petey Sarron: Former Featherweight World Champion and amateur boxing champion. A solid fighter with good ring skills and he always put forth a solid effort inside those ring ropes.
Bo Jackson: He was born in Bessermer, Alabama and he played football and baseball at Auburn in Auburn, Alabama. He played baseball in the MLB and football in the NFL. A hero in the state of Alabama without a doubt.
Shaun Alexander: Alexander won The National Championship with Alabama. He then went on to set several records with The Seattle Seahawks in the NFL. Alexander was very fast not to mention dedicated to his craft.
Bobby Bowden: Holds the NCAA record for the most career wins and he coached The Florida State Seminoles for over thirty years.
Paul "Bear" Bryant: He is revered and almost worshiped for his contribution to Alabama Football. He was a tough coach but, he molded young boys into young men.
Fob James-This former Governor of Alabama was a former All American half-back for Auburn University. He also played professional football in Canada.
Kenny Stabler-This University of Alabama quarterback won a National Championship with his team. His success was equaled in the pros, where he won a Superbowl with The Oakland Raiders.
Bart Starr-He played quarterback for Alabama for four years. He also won Superbowl I & II and was the MVP of both bowls while playing for The Green Bay Packers.
Derrick Thomas-He died too young, at the age of thirty-three. He played football for Alabama, and set many defensive records for the University. He was a nine time Pro-Bowl Selection out of his eleven seasons playing with The Kansas Chiefs.
Charles Barkley-He was born in Leeds, Alabama. He played basketball in college for Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. He also had a very successful career in the NBA.
Gene Bartow-He coached many teams but, it was his coaching at UAB that should be noted. He took a job at UAB and created an athletic program known at The UAB Blazers. For eighteen years he was The Athletic Director and the basketball coach for the men's basketball team.
Hank Aaron-He played twenty years with The Atlanta Braves. He has the most RBI's, total bases and he is second all time in home runs with 755. He is most famous for breaking the home run record set by Babe Ruth.
Satchel Paige-He played for The Browns, The Kansas City Athletics in Major League Baseball.
Auto Racing: Davy Allison-He wore The Daytona 500 in 1992 and The Winston 500 three times.
Neil Bonnett-He won twenty poles and eighteen Nascar Races during his racing career.
All Remaining Sports Inductees:
Diving-Jennifer Chandler-She won Olympic Gold Medal for diving in 1976. She also won a Gold Medal in The Pan American Games.
Golf-Hank Johnson-Johnson runs a School Of Golf in Alabama and coaches several players on the PGA tour each year.
Track-Carl Lewis-He won ten Olympic Medals and ten World Championship in Track & Field.
Track-Jesse Owens-He won the gold medal in the 1936 Olympics for track. This Alabama native struck a cord and a moral victory for America over Hitler and his Nazi regime.
Gymnastics-Sarah Patterson-She is the Head Coach of The Alabama Crimson Tide Gymnastics Team. She has been named Coach of The Year four times and has won six Championships for the school.
In the year 2013 Alabama Head Football Coach Nick Saban will be inducted into The Alabama Hall of Fame.
The Sports Museum
Inside The Musuem
It has over two hundred inductees so far but, every year they have induction ceremonies for new inductees. The museum is located in a 33,000 square foot building and covers three floors. The museum have over five hundred collectable objects including Bo Jackson's Heisman Trophy and signed baseball gloves and Paul Bear Bryant's houndstooth hat.
There's a gift shop located inside the museum and the fun fact is that this is the only Sports Hall of Fame that is for rent in The United States of America.
