Sports Entertainment style Wrestling (Real or Fake)

Updated on July 31, 2014

Real or Fake?

Lets face it we were all kids once right? We all have dreams and heroes. Most of the time we grow out of them though. Lets think for a minute what could happen if we kept those childhood dreams. Well One man did. He had a vision and with the help of some locals he was able to make his dream and visions a epic reality. Now many people in life come up with there own ways of dealing with things they don't understand. Is sports entertainment style wrestling fake or real? In many ways it appears fake because one would think that if another take some of the punishment these guys take that they wouldn't be able to walk out of the building when the night is over. Yet no one ever questions the stunt men that appear in movies as if what they do is real or fake. This is what entertainment style wrestling is. It is a combination of acting and high risk stunts. Among other things in this sport and even in other sports as well these guys give it there all to bring you a good show. They practice hard and train harder. This group of performers have just mastered it and presents it in a different way.

I can assure you that what they do is for real. Though at time it may seem like it's fake and even seem like it is impossible but that is the magic and beauty of this sport. Guys like The Undertaker and Mankind put their bodies on the line with every match. The stunts hurt and if you ask any of them how they feel after a match you will get the same response "it hurts" however the show must go on and it must look good. For some it just about making a living and earning a pay check but for others it is way more then that. It is a dream come true. Not everyone can be great at this sport, to be honest not everyone can do the job these guys do. So before you think about how fake you think this sport is think about what it actually takes to do what these guys do or a regular basis and how much really goes into it. Now that that is out of the way let me give you a bit of history about the sport for anyone who might be interested.

Some History

Joseph Raymond "Toots" Mondt One of the founders of what we now know as the WWE or World Wrestling Entertainment was born on January 18, 1894 in Wayne County, Iowa. He made his Wrestling debut in 1912. He was trained by a man know as Farmer Burns (Martin "farmer" Burns). After being discovered while working as a circus Wrestler by Farmer Burns, Toots Mondt is credited with changing the face of pro-wrestling by combining traditional Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, professional boxing, and mining camp brawling. He called it "Slam Bang Western Style Wrestling". In the late 1920's Toots hooked up with Philadelphia promoter Ray Fabiani.
Toots also formed a working alliance with powerful New York promoter Jack Curley and served as his main Booker. Over time he joined Roderick James "Jess" McMahon and they formed Capitol Wrestling Corporation or CWC.

Later Jess retired. On November 21, 1954, as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage, Jess died at a hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.Vincent James McMahon his son took over the business. Roderick James "Jess" McMahon was born on May 26, 1882 in Queens New York he was 74 when he died. Vincent James McMahon was born on July 6, 1914 in New York, New York he died at the age of 69 on May 24, 1984 in Miami Florida. His son now runs the business.

Now there is a little bit of history on how we got to where we are in the World of Sports Entertainment style wrestling today. Of course as we all know there was other smaller people involved in the upbringing of this sport however this is a hub about if the sport is real or fake. So I'll get back to the subject.

I have been researching the sport for many years now I am even thinking about starting my own version of the sport and I can assure you it is real. The moves might be a bit outrageous and the story lines might be written or scripted but when it comes to the matches and the crowning of champions as well as all the inside stuff it is just like every other sport. Only the best of the best will make it. I have put together a group of guys that love the sport and all of them have a dream to someday make it big in this sport. Though we are on an amateur level right now we all know that it is the fans that make this sport what it truly is today. Without the fan base and the support of the people this type of sport would have never made it. Different moves such as DDT's and Suplexes are basic moves that seem a bit over the top and unlikely for someone in a fight such as the ones in this sport to be considered realistic but they are real moves. With all the training and practice that goes into a three minute match most other sports athletes wouldn't be able to endure it. Most of them wouldn't have what it takes.

So before you start talking about something you may not know much about I ask you to consider the facts. It take more to make this a sport then any other sport out there. You don't need to have any real talents to play the other sports you just need to understand the game and how it is played and your role as a player to make it to the top. Not in this sport you need real skills and you have to really think. That is the only way it will work. I hope after reading this article you can start to see this sport for what it really is and as a real thing. Yes like every other sport you have injuries and there are things you must do to make it look good but this one is truly fan based. No other sport in the world take as much effort as this one does.
