2016 SummerSlam Predictions

Updated on August 18, 2016

With all of the WWE championships on the line, there’s a lot at stake for the Superstars. So who walks away with the gold on Sunday?

Let’s take a look at the matches.

Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor

In this match, The Architect Seth Rollins and newcomer Finn Balor face off for the newly created WWE Universal Championship.

Rollins vs Balor is a match the WWE Universe has dreamed about for a long time. Well, the fans will get their wish on Sunday when the two face off.

Their feud started off a bit slow, but picked up heat recently with the introduction of Balor’s Demon King.

Both of these men have proven they’re championship material.

Winner: This is a match that I feel could go either way. But I’m going with Rollins to win. Balor is a good wrestler and no doubt he’ll win a championship, but I don’t see him winning it so soon after debuting.

Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler

A lot of people were shocked when Dolph Ziggler became the #1 contender for the WWE championship. They assumed that a Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler feud would be a dud.

But it’s proven to be anything but boring.

For the past few weeks, Ambrose and Ziggler have delivered top notch promos. Both men are out to prove they deserve to be champion after all the hard work they’ve put in throughout the years.

Ziggler has really stepped up his game, showing Ambrose he's a worthy opponent.

Winner: Look for Ambrose retains, while a frustrated Ziggler turns heel.

Sasha Banks vs Charlotte

It’s round 2 in the Women’s championship feud.

The Sasha Banks and Charlotte rivalry is one of the top women’s feuds in a long time.

The former NXT Superstars have cemented their statuses on the main roster. Now at SummerSlam, they not only battle for the coveted Women's championship, but to see whose the real star of RAW's women's division.

Winner: Sasha Banks. It’d be a mistake to take the title off of her after she won it less than a month ago.

Randy Orton vs Brock Lesnar

This is the biggest, most-talked about matches heading into the PPV.

You've got Lesnar, one of the biggest stars going against a returning Randy Orton. Despite all the hype, many people weren't able to get behind the match. It wasn't until, Randy gave a surprise RKO to Brock on Raw, when fans became invested in the feud.

Winner: Both guys stand a good chance at winning. WWE loves to cater to having Brock go over, yet I'm looking for Orton to sneak out a win.

John Cena vs AJ Styles

This rivalry between the two men has been one of the best this summer.

You indie darling AJ Styles going up against WWE's top dog John Cena. AJ's out to prove to Cena, he's the best in wrestling and the new face of the WWE.

The two have put on a fierce battle with each man scoring a victory in previous matches. SummerSlam is the final stage in this intense feud.

Winner: Again this is one of those matches that could go either way. But I'm going with AJ Styles to come out on top.

The Miz vs Apollo Crews

In this match, we have Intercontential champion The Miz defending the title against Apollo Crews.

It’s good to see WWE pushing newcomers like Apollo Crews. However, with Crews, he’s having a bit of trouble connecting with the audience. That could be his Achilles Heel.

The Miz on the other hand is a natural heel and grabs the Universe’s attention whenever he comes out.

This feud just started two weeks ago and I feel like it hasn’t had time to properly develop. I feel like if it was given more time, then fans could get behind it.

Winner: The Miz retains

Roman Reigns vs Rusev

After losing out on a contender spot for the WWE championship, Roman Reigns finds himself going for another piece of gold as he battles Rusev for the United States Championship.

The feud started to get exciting when Reigns crashed Rusev and Lana's in-ring wedding reception, which lead to the ravishing bride getting cake on her face.

Ever since his suspension, Reigns has been working to get back to the top. Getting the United States championship is a step in the right direction for Reigns, but he his work cut out going against the unstoppable force in Rusev.

Winner: Look for Rusev to keep his title. I do think Reigns will get the championship, but not at SummerSlam.

The New Day vs Anderson & Gallows

The New Day is one of the most entertaining tag teams the WWE has had in a while. With their charisma, it's no wonder they're the longest-running champions.

Meanwhile, Anderson and Gallows have shown they're a force to be reckoned with in the WWE tag team division. They don't care who they have to go through, they'll stop at nothing to get what they want.

They've already taken out Big E, leaving Kofi and Xavier without their partner come Sunday. With it now a two on two match, the odds are even meaning each team stands a chance at walking away with the gold.

Winner: The New Day are one of the best tag teams, yet I feel that it's time to end their reign. With Big E out of the picture, I look for them losing to Anderson and Gallows.

Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens

This is a match that is dismal in my opinion.

Enzo and Big Cass are a dynamic tag team. Fans cheer every time they're in the ring.

As for Jericho and Owens, this is a tag team that makes little sense to me. Sure they have chemistry, yet I feel this team was thrown together at the last second. There's already some tension between the two, and that's not a good sign heading into their match.

Winner: Enzo and Big Cass win this one due to the friction between Jericho and Owens.

Cesaro vs Sheamus

This is another match that is hard to get into.

Cesaro is a fan favorite in the WWE and could do so much more instead of being stuck in a feud with Sheamus.

This feud started to determine, which man was the best. Both men have put it all on the line into the matches, yet that's not enough to hold the audience's interest. And thanks to RAW GM Mick Foley, we have to set through 7 more of these matches.

Winner: Cesaro wins the first match and starts to build up some heat in this feud.

Becky, Naomi, & Carmella vs Natalya, Alexa, & Eva Marie

This is a match that was added at the last second.

The Smackdown women's roster has been a bit better than RAW's since all six women have been showcased.

On one side we've got the babyfaces of Becky, Naomi, & Carmella going against the heel team of Natalya, Alexa, and Eva Marie.

Even though the match was added at the last minute, I think it's a chance for the Smackdown women to show what they really have.

Winner: Becky & Co will score the win. Eva Marie will find an excuse not to compete, leading to her team losing.
