The Messi - Ronaldo Battle: Two Nigerian Fans Get Ugly
The Soccer Battle
Football (soccer) is by far, one of the world's most beloved sport which often unites people from various backgrounds. This sport breaks racial barriers and seeks the unification of all. However, just like other sports, fans of football teams do argue among themselves as to which side (team) is the best. This also goes to the extent of involving individual players who have distinguished themselves on the field of play and have attained various accolades.
One of those arguments in football involves the supposed "Best Player Battle" known to exist between Lionel Messi of Barcelona Football Club and Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid Football Club. Both players ply their football trade in Spain and have won the hearts of football lovers worldwide.
People of different backgrounds (or of the same background) who happen to be fans of the two great players do argue often. However, i doubt if it ever crossed the minds of football fans that one of those arguments could get ugly and lead to the death of another. An unfortunate incident happened somewhere in India on Sunday, between two young Nigerian men who argued over the prowess of Messi and Ronaldo, leading to one stabbing the other dead. It happened that one was a fan of Messi while the other belonged to the Ronaldo group.
Police inspector Kiran Kabadi said, "The two Nigerian youngsters were discussing football players. One is a fan of Messi and the other was for Ronaldo. During the conversation a quarrel took place. The deceased threw a glass into the face of the accused person. The glass broke and caused small injuries. After that, the accused took the broken glass and assaulted the deceased person who died due to heavy bleeding."
My point is - should this go to such extent?
