The Super Bowl Commercials and its Worth - Prices of Superbowl Ads

Updated on January 31, 2013

Price of A Superbowl Commerical

Aside from the usual game itself, the most anticipated part of the Super Bowl is the commercial which is aired during breaks. Companies pay high amount of money just to air specific commercial of specific products.

The Super Bowl commercials are anticipated every year as it brings the funniest and best commercials which pay the highest prices in advertising competing for the viewership which is expected at nearly 100 millions. Millions of viewers are glued to the television on that day and advertisers see this opportunity to air or plug products. All throughout the season, it is viewed by billion people in the whole world.

At halftime, Beyonce Knowles will perform, sponsored by Pepsi Co.

Some facts:

  • CBS Inc. (Columbia Broadcasting System) network is the one who will air the Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2012, 6:30 pm, Eastern Time.
  • The Super Bowl game aired on TV is the consistent highest number of viewership in the US
  • The worth of a Super Bowl ad is an increase of product sales by almost fifty percent.
  • Expensive rate per 30 second ad, worth millions in USD and is increasing in amount every year

Trivia about American football

  • The actual amount of time the football being played is only 11 minutes. Look at the news here.

Do you watch Super Bowl only because of the commercial?

  • I watch and love football because of the game itself during the regular season. During Super Bowl, of course I watch it because of the game, then the commercials, halftime performance, cheerleaders, and as a way to party with friends too.
  • According to a survey by Nielsen, 51 percent of the people watching the Super Bowl watched it because of the commercial and they enjoy the commercial more than the game. The Nielsen interviewed 25,000 households all in all, and the saying goes if there is no commercial there is no Super Bowl.

“The Super Bowl remains a singular event for engaging the broadest number of consumers at one time,” said Mark Nesbitt, president of TNS Media Intelligence. “Because it is viewed live and experienced by a majority of the country at the same time, a commercial presence on the broadcast has great significance and impact for a brand.”

Hey Maita, interesting. I do watch the game I think the commercials are just an added bonus. I think the e-trade baby ones are the best! I got back from Sedona on Thursday night, trying to get settled in again. Working on getting my info together for my hub about the trip, look for it ok? Thanks as always. K.

Excellent hub Maita, I enjoy the Super bowl for the game. However some of the commercials are more entertaining than the commercials that air during regular TV. I am looking forward to this years match up. I hope you had a great day of watching football. Thanks.

I watch for the game, but the commercials are fun to watch also. At least some of them. I have seen some that are great and some not so great.

Hi RevLady, i think because comemrcial about GOD is highly controversial, isnt it, there are atheists also, so that limits maybe the target commercially of the owner of the product, thats capitalism too, Thanks, Maita

What a great idea for a hub! This one should soar. I love watching the commercials. They are hysterical. Great idea and well done.

Maita - funny about Super Bowl Commercials; I produced 3; intros of Chevy Z-28 and Ford Contour + Flying Tigers. Clients love you for about a week. Your family says, "That was nice", but non involved ad agency mates hate you with envy, forever. It's 16 years since Contour and I still recall our around the world shoot + the day to day stress of working with new, untested breakthru post production steps while everyone screamed AREN'T YOU FINISHED YET? What I have noticed is there are never any commercials promoting Jesus Christ, our Lord. But, even if they did, it would probably result in public outrage.

Thank you for the hub Maita. Usually during the game commercials I do other things.

      Forever His,

Maita - this is interesting because I like some of the commercials but never thought of them as the main topic, especially for a hub...nice work

Interesting Hub, I think it is a good split and the media has created some megga ads that people are expected to watch.

      Great hub as always girl...

I have to admit...I usually miss most of the Superbowl because I am working but if there is some really funny commercial or something my husband with record it on the DVR...Especially when Justin Timberlake pulled Janet Jackson's shirt open a couple of years ago.
