The world cup-the not so hot
Talented, but flawed
There is no disputing these footballers talents, some of them are the best in the world. They wouldn't be in the world cup if they didn't have talent. It's their looks that we are talking about here. I now this is shallow, but it's just for fun, and as someone once said,'any publicity is good publicity.' Now it does seem that the uglier the face the more talented the feet. However these people do have their own charms. So here are a few faces that you might see in the World cup 2010 that have been hit by the ugly stick.
- Wayne Rooney un-official Web Site
Welcome on the un-official site of Rooney, the star of the England National Team at Euro 2004. Here supporters can find news, photos, info, video, wallpapers and other.
The goal scoring machine that is Wayne Rooney is pure genius and as everyone knows he is challenged in the facial department. However I don't think he cares, though he doesn't get the sponsorship deals that his better looking less talented team mates get. Rooney became the youngest player to play for England when he earned his first cap in 2003 at seventeen, the same age in which he also became the youngest player to score an England goal. Now aged 24 Wayne wears the number 10 shirt and is the English team's main hope for goals. Playing as a striker he will be in high profile throughout the 2010 world cup.
José María Gutiérrez Hernández
José María Gutiérrez Hernández, known simply as Guti, is a 33 year old mid fielder playing for Spain. So even his age is against him. Though his form has not been so good of late so he might not reach the field. Which would be a shame as looking like this I am sure he could have frightened the opposition into submission. Still if he does play I am certain we could pick him out. But just in case of confusion I have labeled the photos to help us that get Guti muddled with a well known Muppet
- Philipp Lahm
Philipp Lahm is a soccer star from Germany, playing for Bayern Mnchen. Read all the latest news, biography, information and watch great pictures and videos.
Phillip Lahm, well known dribbler
Phillip Lahm is a 26 year old wing back that will be playing for Germany in the 2010 world cup. He is well known for his dribbling and pace and was nominated for the world player of the year in 2006 following his outstanding performance in the 2006 World Cup. He does do a lot of charity work and he has established a foundation: Philipp Lahm-Stiftung, to support underprivileged children and is also an official ambassador representing "FIFA for SOS Children's Villages".
It is unclear whether or not Ronaldinho will be playing with the Brazilian squad in South Africa for the 2010 world cup. The Brazillians have so much talent to choose from that Ronaldinho's genius may well be side lined. He has expressed deep interest in being there but as of yet no definite decision has been made. At 30 Ronaldinho is one of Brazil's older players but his talent will be sorely missed.
England's secret weapon
Peter Crouch is 29 year old striker that plays for the English National team, playing upfront with Wayne Rooney he has hopes of the nation riding on his shoulders. Having said that , isn't he tall! At 6 foot seven inches he is the tallest man ever to have played for the national team. Although not having the typical footballers physique he can really play and because of this In 2007 he was the second top scorer in the Champions league only being beaten by KaKa. Peter was capped six times for England’s Under-21s and made his senior
debut in a friendly against Colombia in America in 2005. He
established himself as an international player in the following season, scoring
six goals in one five-game spell and being chosen to start England’s
first two fixtures in the 2006 World Cup. There is no denying his brilliance on the pitch. However there is one more thing that Peter Crouch will be remembered for and that is his truly unique robotic dance celebration. Yes he can dance, if you don't believe me look at the video below.
Head over heels for Crouch
