Hiking is a fascinating outdoor activity which will improve the physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual aspects of an individual. It consists of walking in the natural environment like mountains, lakes and summits. It can be done in a single day or overnight.

Here are some guidelines that you need to consider when planning for a hike:

  • Location

Choose a nearby area in your community that you want to hike. Search for maps and brochures about the area. Also check if the place is safe to hike.

  • Schedule

Select the best date that you can hike considering the weather condition of the place. Also choose the date when all of the members of your group are free. It is advisable to hike in groups not only to increase the fun but for your safety as well.

  • Things to Bring

You don’t need to bring the whole house in hiking. It will just make you feel difficult to hike on trails. Try to pick up only the necessary things as possible. Some of the most important things to bring are first aid kit, food in food bags, eating utensils, portable cooking appliance, toilet paper, knife, compass, map, flashlight, water, poncho, matchsticks and if you’re staying overnight, a tent. Also make sure that you feel comfortable with the clothes and shoes that you’re wearing, and they are strong enough to protect you.

  • Program of activities

Having a list of activities to do will be a great help. That way, you can remember everything that you want to do. You can play games like hide and seek and touch the tree. You can also try painting, playing music around the bonfire or go fishing.
