Fishing the mouth of the AuSable
Oscoda and surrounding areas offer great fishing opportunities. Ranging from Trout and pan fish in the AuSable river to Whitefish in Lake Huron. The AuSable river offers many different fishing opportunities with shallow rocky sections and deep holes. This allows for many different habitats for multiple species of fish. If river fishing is not your speed, there is always Lake Huron for a more expansive fishing experience.
Tubing on the river
The AuSable river, besides being a great fishing spot, is a wonderful river for tubing and canoeing. Even if you don’t own ether it is always easy to obtain both in the Oscoda area. You have three choices of canoe liveries in the immediate Oscoda area. Oscoda canoe rental, AuSable River Canoe Company, and Hunts Canoe Rentals all of which offer both canoe and tube rentals. If you want a cheap option, you can always buy tubes at local hardware’s and stores on the cheap. Keep in mind if you go on your own you’ll need two cars, one to put in with and one at the end.
