Top Moments from Smackdown Live 7/26/16

Updated on July 29, 2016

Battle Royale

Smackdown kicked off the show by stating there would be a six-man match later on to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. Top names such as John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, AJ Styles, and Bray Wyatt were already announced as participants of the match.

But the sixth man would be the winner of the Battle Royale.

Everyone from Zack Ryder to Erick Rowan to Alberto Del Rio to Kane competed in the battle. While everyone was expecting Del Rio or Kane to win, it was newcomer Apollo Crews who pulled off the upset victory.

Introduction to the Women’s Division

Becky Lynch and Natalya were the top two women picks for Smackdown. The ladies proved they have the makings of carrying the Smackdown women’s division thanks to their lengthy match. Becky came out in top, but her victory was short-lived when newcomer Alexa Bliss came on the scene announcing she was going to be the face of the women’s division. What followed was interruptions from Naomi, Carmella, and Eva Marie, each making their presence known.

While the sequence was a bit ridiculous at the end, the women all proved that they have what it takes to be the face of the women’s division.

Randy Orton

Out of action since last fall with a shoulder injury, Randy Orton returned to his new home of Smackdown. In a few weeks, Orton faces the biggest match of his career as he faces off against Brock Lesnar.

Not wanting to wait until Summerslam to get back to action, Orton challenged The Miz to a match. There were a couple of slow moments throughout the match, but Orton delivered a vicious RKO to The Miz securing his victory.

The Miz was just a walk in the park compared to Brock Lesnar. But one thing, Orton proved Tuesday night is he's ready for any challenge.

Six Man Match

The main event saw John Cena, AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt, Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, and Dolph Ziggler battling to become the next contender for Smackdown’s championship. All eyes were on Cena, Styles, and Wyatt as they were the top picks to challenge Dean Ambrose.

Yet, just like on RAW, Smackdown left us with a surprise contender as Ziggler pinned Styles to pick up the victory.

Ziggler is one of the popular superstars of the WWE and has been out of the main event for a while. Having Ziggler back on top and facing Dean Ambrose is sure to be an exciting feud for Smackdown heading into Summerlam.
