USA men's Basketball Team

Updated on August 3, 2016

Recently, many star players have decided to decline playing for their country, for many different reasons. Players like Lebron James, Stephen Curry, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Paul have all decided to forgo the Olympics. While I can't fault them for not wanting to get injured, I feel as if it sets a bad precedent for future American stars in the NBA. I understand that team USA doesn't need them to win a gold medal, but these players should still want to play and represent their country. Back to setting a bad precedent for future players; international players are getting better and better, and the NBA is seeing more and more of them. Players like Kristaps Porzingis are already becoming stars in the league. Eventually, Team USA isn't going to win a gold medal if star players aren't playing. Heck, team USA only got third place in the Olympics in 2004 with a team that had many stars, but refused to play well together.
