WPAC Wrestling Tournament
The wrestling season has flown by, and now it is time for the wrestling that really gets everyone pumped up. The post-season tournaments are at hand.
The Western Piedmont Athletic Conference tournament was going strong for most of the day on Saturday. Each wrestler had to fight his way through the bracket at his weight class to try to make the championship match. The final two wrestlers from each weight class were awarded All-Conference honors.
Forbush had three wrestlers earn All-Conference. Caleb Price (106 lbs), Cody Farmer (120 lbs) and Isaac McMillan (152 lbs) all did an outstanding job this weekend.
Mason Coffman, Tyler Hailey and Tanner Couch just missed out on All-Conference, but still finished in 3rd place at their respective weight divisions.
In the championship matches, Caleb Price made quick work of his opponent with a first period pin. Caleb was in complete control of the match from the start, and really didn't let his opponent breathe.
Cody Farmer fought hard in his match, but couldn't manage to get ahead in points. He had to be more aggressive to get back into the match, and that played into the hands of his opponent. Cody earned 2nd place in the tournament.
Isaac McMillan shutout his opponent from West Stokes over three periods. Isaac nearly pinned him early in the match, but had to settle for a 13-0 victory to push his undefeated streak to 33-0 as reported at the tournament (not official).
Many of the Forbush wrestlers will compete in the Regional (Parkwood High School) and State (Greensboro) tournaments over the next few weeks.
