Water Sports - Activities Under Water
It’s the summer – time to let your hair down and maybe try some water sports. In part one of Water Sports, I wrote about the types of Water Sports on Water and introduced 5 Popular Watersports Centres in the UK.
This is part Two. Water Sports - In Water.
There are various types of Water sports activities you could do in water which include: Swimming, water aerobics, Water gymnastics, diving, snorkeling and even underwater photography.
Snorkelling
Snorkelling - is swimming on or through a body of water while equipped with a diving mask, a shaped tube called a snorkel, and usually swimfins. In cooler waters, a wetsuit may also be worn. Using this equipment allows one to observe underwater attractions for extended periods of time with little effort. Snorkeling is also a means to an end in popular sports such as underwater Hockey, underwater rugby and spearfishing. It’s great fun, easy to learn and helps you grow in confidence in the water.
Scuba Diving
Scuba Diving - offers people the opportunity to see what life is like below the water in lakes, and oceans. Scuba divers wear equipment which allows the divers to stay below the water's surface for long periods of time.
(Difference b/s Snorkelling and Diving – For Scuba diving you don’t necessarily need to know how to swim. Also in Snorkelling, you breathe out of a tube while in Diving, you use compressed air tanks. SCUBA – Self contained Underwarter Breathing Apparatus).
Water Gymnastics
Water gymnastics - is also a good form of water exercise. It does not strain the joints. Utilizing one's own body, water resistance, and a variety of equipment, the workout increases the pulse and strengthens the muscles. Found in Leisure Centres.
Water Aerobics
Water Aerobics - Water aerobic activity is not about just swimming. It allows you to burn calories and build on your strength. You don’t have to be a swimmer to do water aerobic exercise as most of the exercises are performed in waist level water and chest level water. Some water aerobics exercises such as jogging are carried out in deeper water where the person's body is completely submerged.
Swimming - one of the most popular recreational sports that can be enjoyed by all ages. Best form of all over , low impact exercise and Makes you feel good emotionally.
