Euro 2012: What Date Did England Get Knocked Out Of The 2012 European Cup?

Updated on June 18, 2013

The date 24th June 2012 was a sad day for England football fans, when they lost to Italy in the quarter finals of FIFA's European Cup.

When the England Vs Italy European Cup Quarter Final match kicked off on the 24th June 2012, England fans held their breaths the whole 90 minutes - but were disappointed when at the final whistle the score remained 0-0.

After going to penalties, the England squad - as they are infamous for doing - fell far short.

With 2 penalties scored by England compared to 4 penalties scored by Italy, they waved goodbye to the tournament and goodbye to any hopes of winning the European title.

Very true. England is no longer the team it once was.

There are too many better teams in the competition than England. Probably a good thing the never went on to play Germany who rested several players during there quarter final. Sad for us Scots but better for England.
