Why Floyd Mayweather Is the Greatest Boxer of All Times After Muhammad Ali.

Floyd Mayweather Junior won his first boxing title at 16 years in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. This marking the beginning of a great boxer.

After Floyd Mayweather Junior’s loss in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics semifinals, it took two years for Mayweather to clinch the first world WBC Super Featherweight title after beating Genaro Hernande who was then the Super Featherweight champion in 1998. He defended his title thrice in the following year against Carlos Rico, Justin Juuko and Carlos Gerena.

The fight he gave the most remarkable performance, was of knocking down the IBF super-featherweight champion Diego Corrales all through until the fifth round and earning Mayweather the title pound to pound boxer in the year 2000. Corrales had remained unbeaten before meeting Myaweather.

Despite his quick paced blows and lightning attacks Mayweather was found flat foot in a match against Carlos Hernandez on May 2001 in the sixth round but finally emerging the winner in the twelfth round.

The last featherweight fight was against Jesus Chaves as Mayweather defended his super featherweight title ending Chaves’ 31 straight win and Mayweather retaining his title.

In his debut at the lightweight championship he amazed and knocked out his contender the then WBC champion Jose Luis Castillo on the twelfth round and winning again with a huge gap on a rematch.

By 2003 Mayweather rank went high and he was ranked number 5 pound to pound boxer worldwide after beating Dominican Victoriano Sosa and Philip N’dou on respectively WBC lightweight championship.

In 2004, Mayweather won easily in his debut at the 140 light welterweight fight against DeMarcus Corley.

In 2005, he outperfomed Henry Bruseles and Arturo Gatti, Mayweather clinching his first WBC light welterweight championship. This advanced Mayweather to the welterweight division.

In May 2006, Mayweather won his first IBF welterweight title after defeating Zab Judah and ending Boldamir eight year unbeaten streak and adding the ring and lineal welterweight titles to his belts.

Mayweather alias Pretty Boy is known as a defensive boxer and gives his contenders a hard time laying a punch on him whenever he steps in the boxing ring, in all his matches he has won 27 by Technical Knockouts. Mayweather has knocked down almost every great boxer on his generation like Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, Jose Luis Castillo, Genaro Hernandez.

He has announced his retirement thrice and astonished his fans whenever he comes back. He ended Rick Harton undefeated pattern after a come back from his first retirement, beating down Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley all in a row. He also won all the bouts against Saúl Álvarez, Marcos Maidana, Andre Berto and Manny Pacquiao after comeback from his second retirement.

On 26 August, 2017 his quick combinations overwhelmed the UFC star Conor McGregor setting a record of 50-0 with a technical knockout on the tenth round. The fight against McGregor made him cash in a clean $100 million as he retired.

Floyd Mayweather has seen a tremendous success in his boxing career. Sports personalities celebrate his various achievements as he remains unbeaten in 50 matches and he is a three time Guinness World Book of Record holder for most undefeated contests by a world champion boxer and he among the sportsmen hitting the $1 billion mark in gross earnings.
