Why Ronaldo is a better player than Messi

Hard Working

10. Ronaldo worked a lot harder than Messi

When Ronaldo came into Manchester United, all he had in his game was pace, dribbling skills and vision. He was weak and looked brittle. From the views of Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, he also was given a tough time in the beginning. But he got respect from his seniors after putting in tons of hard work, dedication and sweat on the pitch and trained harder than any senior player in the Manchester United squad. From mere sticks and bones, he became the most muscular footballer in United- thanks to 5-8 hours of gym sessions. And when you earn the respect of great players like Scholes, Giggs, Neville and Robbie Keane, you know that you’re the best player in the team.

9. Scoring 40+ goals consecutively for two seasons

This is a claim that even Lionel Messi cannot make, despite his highest ever goal scoring run. It’s one thing to be a goal scorer, but another to be completely consistent one. Ronaldo has fewer injuries, he’s much more fit than Messi, which makes him mentally and physically capable to go on scoring 40+ goals for two consecutive seasons- and this is a claim that no other player in football history can make but Ronaldo. Ronaldo doesn’t need to think twice about shooting and statistically, Ronaldo is much more likely to score when he gets the ball than Messi if you look at the past two seasons. From 2011 to 2014, Ronaldo has scored 60+ goals every year and apart from that- he managed to score 50+ goals for the past 5 years! … try to beat that Messi!

8. Appeared in FIFPro World XI With Two Different Clubs

Messi is a one man club and many argue that if Barcelona falls short of players like Iniesta or Xavi, then Messi cannot really do anything apart from giving a hard time to defenders and trying to make attempts to score goals. Ronaldo, on the other hand, has proved his worth with two different clubs with completely different style of gameplay. Remember: the English Premier League is a much harder league, a league where players like Falcao and Di Maria have failed. Ronaldo, on the other hand, became the top player for both the clubs, winning numerous honours and accolades with the Red Devils and the Galacticos as well.

7. Only player to score most Hat Tricks in SPL

Ronaldo had come to play for Real Madrid a long time after Messi established himself at Barcelona. But still, he clearly has outclassed Messi when it comes to scoring hat tricks. These rare events are very much like eclipses, a rare occurrence and yet, Ronaldo makes it seem like a weekend phenomenon. He has scored 28 hat tricks in Liga BBVA alone in his Real Madrid career, which is far better than Messi. He was also the first player to become a regular goal scorer in six consecutive El Classico matches. Altogether, this guy has scored 33 hat tricks in his career, excluding friendlies and other exhibition matches.

6. Scored a 100 goals in a lot lesser time than Messi

Ronaldo not only managed to score a 100 goals a lot faster than Messi or anyone in the history of Liga BBVA for that matter, he also broke the record in achieving the 150 and 200 goal mark in the Liga BBVA. There was a time that people used to bet upon the time of match when Ronaldo would score, instead of betting over if at all he would ever score in the match, they were such confident. Goal scoring ability is almost effortless to Ronaldo and while Messi is a strong goal scorer as well, he’s rather inconsistent when you compare it to Ronaldo.

5. First player to win all 4 PFA and WFA awards.

Cristiano Ronaldo has won all the major accolades there is to win over from PFA and WFA. This is a feat not even Pele or Maradona were able to achieve while they were at their prime, let alone Messi. On the other hand, Leo managed to win the Player of the series title in 2014 FIFA World Cup amidst high speculations of a controversy. Ronaldo’s dedication to the game is often mistaken to be his arrogance, which is why there are many Ronaldo haters (and more importantly, they went on to become Messi lovers). Ronaldo sincerely believes that his bad “on-pitch” reputation has cost him a Ballon d’Or simply because people liked Messi over him, at a time when Ronaldo was a much professional player than Messi.

4. Incredible Goal Scoring Record

Consider these facts: Ronaldo was the fastest player in the history of Real Madrid to reach the 300 goal benchmark. He was also the only player to score 15 goals in a matter of 7 matches (14 goals in 5 matches). He is also the first Real Madrid player to score on every day of the week. He is also the Champion’s League highest ever goal scorer. He was also the first player to score against every team in La Liga in a season. These feats have made him feature in the UEFA team of the year for 9 times in his career till now and is seen as a strong contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or award.

3. Ronaldo used almost all of his body parts to score goals

Footballers use their legs or hands to score goals, leaving aside Maradona’s Hand of God. Ronaldo on the other hand has had many fancy goals as well, using his chest, his back, his heels, his thigh and his shoulders to score goals. It’s almost as if no matter where the ball’s going to land, he can score goals from each and every position. He’s a complete entertainment package, his celebrations, his trickery, his pace and most importantly, his poaching abilities. Ronaldo has a remarkable jump, almost jumping double of his body height and making an impression of floating temporarily in the air.

2. Ronaldo is a better human than Messi

While Messi is fighting to win the tax fraud case that’s even hampering his form, Ronaldo is literally giving money away to the poor so that the world becomes a better place to live for them. He has donated literally millions of dollars to charitable organizations and cancer hospitals to promote awareness and research of this deadly disease, having lost his own father to it. Ronaldo has also donated considerable money for the development of his home town in Portugal and is very much known for his tendencies and efforts to make his fans and every other football fan happy in every possible way. And we all know one thing, Ronaldo left his girlfriend Irina Shayk (and we don’t have to remind anyone how hot she is) and chose his mother over her, when there were reports that Irina and Ronaldo’s mom were not getting along. Messi fans may think this to be a “mama’s boy” syndrome, but Messi himself looks like one.

1. Messi can never become Ronaldo

This might sound like a lame reason, but when you think deeper about it, you’ll slowly realise that it’s the most important reason. Ronaldo’s and Messi’s style of play is completely different. Both may be great goal scorers in their respective clubs but Ronaldo is a complete entertainment package while Messi is just another star player in Barcelona. Ronaldo’s brand value is arguably much higher than Messi and stands second only to Beckham. He also has a better Penalty conversion rate than Leo Messi (93%). Ronaldo can go on to become a greater legend than Messi, simply because he plays at the most legendary club of football - Real Madrid.
