Ab Straps

Updated on March 1, 2014

Super Ab workout - on your pull up bar!

Do you have a pull up bar taking up a doorway in your house? You can use it to get a super efficient workout for your abdominal muscles.

Ab straps hang you from a pull-up bar, making it easy to do Ab Crunches and Leg Lifts - WITHOUT straining your back.

It's great for people who suffer neck and back discomfort when doing sit ups.

It's even really helpful for those that feel their high blood pressure during sit ups... for some reason, I just don't feel like my head's going to explode while working the abs in an upright position :)

Results begin on day 1, with the burn :) You start feeling more toned within a week!

Don't start too fast - wouldn't want to strain a muscle. Apparently it's easy to do after ignoring the abs for a year :P

A Universal set of Ab Straps

The "Perfect Ab Straps" fit on any pull up bar

These Ab Straps are easy to attach to or remove from any pull up bar.

The clips are SOLID, but are easy to use.

The fabric is amazingly well constructed.

And they'll last for years! It's 2014, I'm on year #3, and they show no wear - I promise, I've used them!!! :)

Don't already have a pull-up bar? - This one's PERFECT for the pricerange!

I LOVE this pull up bar - it is the only one I can use without pre-training! It lets me do modified pull ups where my feet can be on the ground while I'm out of shape, and it also lets you do traditional pull ups.

This is just like the above, but without the rotating handles - and the image shows the EASY MODIFICATION pull up, which is GREAT for starting out!

Pullup Bar for Anyone

Did I mention that this particular pull-up bar is unique? You can pull at any angle, so you don't always have to carry your full weight! Yes, your feet can still be on the ground, and you can get a great workout.

Intro to the Perfect Pullup Ab Straps

This video shows how they work, and the basics of how they can exercise your abdominals and obliques.

You can see ab strap reviews here

I LOVE these things, and they're easy to remove when it's time to hookup the baby swing to the pull up bar! They're also easy to slide out of the way when it's time to hang laundry on it :)

Additional Pull Up Bar Uses

In Perfect Pull Up Indoor Baby Swing, the pull up bar is used to mount a baby swing...

You can probably think of a few more uses for the pull up bar, besides:

1. pull ups,

2. ab workouts,

3. baby swings,

4. and drying laundry

Adding Carabiners to Ab Straps that don't have them - Old Ab Straps didn't have carabiners, and were more difficult to mount/dismount

For Ab Straps with no Carabiners
For Ab Straps with no Carabiners

You can buy a pair of carabiners and a pair of rings, to make it easy to attach your ab straps to the pull-up bar, even if they don't already have carabiners installed.

See my receipt from Lowes, showing the:

Two 3/4" Spring Link Carabiners

Two 2" Welded Rings

Slip the rings over the pull-up bar, and then use the carabiners to attach your ab straps to the rings.

Here's the type of Carabiner I used - Just click the link for details...

Nice lens. Looks like it would really help for a good workout.

@MJsConsignments: Thanks for the kind word. From what I've read, you could probably use the bar to make one of your Halloween spooks float over your Haunted Trail :-) I enjoyed that article.

Great job on your "A" lens. Unfortunately, with the hardware I have in one of my hands, pull-ups are out of the question for me, personally!

@Elsie Hagley: Thank you! (For crossing my path again too!)

Anyway, I don't think 70's is too old to use a pull up bar... granted, I'm in my 30's and I already don't want to carry myself needlessly, BUT, it still does a wonderful job as a clothes drying rack :) [Now that I reread this, I hope this doesn't come off as disrespectful, but merely as tongue in cheek - I really did have a nice day today]

      @iamraincrystal: Thanks!

Exercise is fun, but Squidooing is pretty addictive too :)

@flycatcherrr: It sounds like you're saying that you don't to pull ups, but you might want to, so here's a little note about the particular bar (perfect pull up) that I mentioned: It allows you to move the bar in such a way that you can start off easy, and gradually build up to complete pull ups. I'll try to dig up an image or video to illustrate. I definitely made use of this feature - in fact I make use of it every time after I get out of shape :)

Nice lens. No i do not have a pull up bar, I think I am a bit old for one, in my 70's so I will watch you young ones using them and think of day's gone by. Happy memories.

I don't have a pull-up bar (and it probably shows) but you do make a good case for getting one!

Yep...mine would get used for hanging laundry, most likely! :) We have a pull up bar, but it's not currently installed. I love the idea of adding ab straps...might have to think about that in the future!
