What is the best gun to shoot illegal drones with?
It is illegal to spy on US citizens without a warrant, so drone hunting season is year round, what kind of rifle would be best? Drones are just as safe to cook and eat as Monsanto products - happy hunting and bon appetite!
Heheheh ... I don't have a Stinger, and if I did I wouldn't know how to use it. Deploying those evil-empire, insectoid things for routine surveillance of American citizens is unconstitutional, though. Pity the people have been so thoroughly trained to follow orders they're just taking it like good little lambs.
I don't think my shoulder can handle a .50 calibre!!!!!
I wonder if a .306 would dent the darn things.
Heh, not sure if anything will work short of a missles or anti aircraft weapon since most of these things will be at about 21, 000 feet and higher. Makes you wonder what freedoms we are going to have come the Fourth of July and what freedoms we are going to lose between now and Jan of 2013.
In a scene that could have been inspired by the movie "Minority Report," one North Carolina county is using a UAV equipped with low-light and infrared cameras to keep watch on its citizens. The aircraft has been dispatched to monitor gatherings of motorcycle riders at the Gaston County fairgrounds from just a few hundred feet in the air--close enough to identify faces--and many more uses, such as the aerial detection of marijuana fields, are planned
Those invasive illegal birds have to roost somewhere!!!
Bikers ain't as dangerous as fascist in the N.C. state government!
Oh I have to agree, this is just another way to get into our privacy and keep tabs on Americans. The fact that they can see what you are doing and simply 'ease drop' into your personal surroundings is an invasion and taking away the basic freedom.
Probably the best thing to shoot at them is your middle finger as they fly over.
Shooting them down won't do any good. When I was in the military we had to use canvas covers whenever we took a weapon out of storage. Because the Soviets already had satellite capabilities that could zoom in close enough to see our faces (and our weapons). That was late 1980s. I assume the reasoning for using drones today is because satellites are expensive to make and launch, and they are being tasked for other purposes.
30,000 of them are planned for deployment in America over the next ten years. That would indeed be a whole lot o' shootin'.

I suppose I should stop walking around the yard naked now, I'm mean I'm not ashamed or anything, but It could make for some negative publicity when I run for president. Besides, if I'm naked where would I carry the gun I need to shot at the drones?
Naw....go for it! If the law of the land isn't the law, then there is no law....and morals or ethics ....or nudity doesn't matter!!

Wesman, good question but I have no idea. However, I have heard that it is considered bad form to kill dame drones and their young. On the other hand buck drones can be cantankerous during the molting season and have an affinity for charging smokers and anyone holding a McDonald's Big Mac or KFC 8-piece dinner bucket. Some hunters report they can be lured out into the open by carelessly brandishing copies of Ayn Rand and George Orwell books in the air. Wildlife experts contend that herd territory can safely be entered for safe observation by camouflaging yourself as a drug cartel thug, militant environmentalist or Sean Penn. Likewise they warn one should never wear Parfum du Nancy Pelosi when entering established Drone breeding grounds as you could be mistaken for an interested female and carried off for mating purposes.
I like the guys who intercepted the transmission of one. I'll look it up.

We have something like that, but they're a bit more earth-bound. They're called Council Workers. Got any business to take care of? They'll mind your business for no charge whatsoever.
Ah yes - we call those "snitches" here - the whores on tv told them how to think!

Living in NYstate i heard the drones will drop citations and tickets on cars trucks jaywalkers litterers people without pool monitors but Im sure they will ignore crooks and illegals....
There you go. The drones can be tools for revenue enhancement. Drop enough citations and they may pay for themselves, and if you don't pay they can be used to blow up your house cheaply.
Bestgood - I'm reporting you for the second time right now!
Love it! Can you provide the link to this picture, I'd love to share it with others?
It was from a Facebook page - down and upload it!
The best weapon to shoot down illegal drones would be a 50-caliber anti-aircraft gun, set up in your own backyard.
Check it out:

I think a sign laying flat on the ground with an image of a "bird" flipped and the following comment would do for me:
"I don't need to see you.. I already know you're there."
I'd put, If you are reading this - kill yourself for the good of the planet."
I don't think the ones used to break the law by spying without warrants in the US are armed - but if they are, then we need to liquidate the individuals that control them as a matter of public safety.
You really think that they are not armed? Why? Because the people using them are saying they are not armed? That is built into the design, I doubt the capability has been taken out just because the military loans them to local authorities.
Sorry forgot to switch back to Leroy64. Leroyworld is my alter ego.
The Austin, Texas, police are training now in the use of drones. The reports I've read say their curriculum includes learning how to mount tear gas and tasers on them. Short jump to other weapons. Drones are built to be easily and quickly weaponized.
How high are these drones flying? If their high altitude drones I would use a 50 caliber barrett M82. If its a low flyer...12 gauge shot gun will do.

I, like many, am amazed that the US would have Drones over the US and will not specifically say they will never be used on American Citizens in the US. The whole problem being that there should be 'due-course', trials etc - "innocent before proven guilty' always comes to mind. However it has...
