He cut some nice fillets off the fish but I'm unfamiliar with this type. I'm not sure if it's mild or fishy. The only thing I do know is that he is thrilled beyond belief and wants me to cook it for him tomorrow.
I used to catch Northern Pike when I lived in Michigan in our small pond/lake. In fact the first one I caught was about the same size and weighed seven pounds. We kept it very simple. When it was filleted, we covered the pike with egg yolk and then breadcrumbs on both sides. Italian breadcrumbs are the best, but regular breadcrumbs are fine. Then we put butter in a large skillet and pan-fried it. The pike was delicious.
