For GOLFERS-Why do we keep going back and hitting the damned thing?

I mean, Really! I have been trying to play this frustrating game for over 40 years, and I still Suck at it. BUT! It keeps calling me back, over and over to " just play one more round". And Imay actually do better, but eventually ........ the round from HELL! Such pain! Such Embarrassment! Then? We still go back and do it again! WHY?

My partner started playing golf 2 yrs. ago, wished he had played some 10 years back, plays every weekend and holidays. He says it's relaxing. Yes, but why every weekend?
