How extensive should replay be in Major League Baseball?
While the human element in important, I want to see more replay. There should be replays available on any close play from balls down the line or force plays. I want the game to be fair for all with as few bad calls as possible.
I'm a traditionalist, so I'm against replay in baseball. The idea that every umpire's strike zone is going to be reviewed by some computer and commented on by Tim McCarver should be anathema to any baseball fan. Part of the charm of the game is the human element. Replay in baseball would be would be like a computer program that writes poetry: it may get the technicalities right, but something is lost in the process. Baseball has been a beautiful game for 150 years without replay, and just because the technology exists doesn't mean we have to use it.
Ur right about an element of game being lost however balls and strikes should not be reviewable. Managers should have one challenge per game on out and safe calls, catches/traps. Homeruns and fair and foul should automatically be reviewed if close
A purist, of which I am one, would answer it is a game played by men and governed by men. All are imperfect yet striving to become perfect. That said, some areas cry out for replay. Check out my hub "Is this the future of the game of baseball?" for one possibility. It isn't my favorite, but I fear that sometime it is bound to happen.
I think that replay should be expanded in baseball. Umpires are making bad calls too often, and the fans know it. I basically agree with ASchmidtSports on this one.
It should be expanded but I think only on calls at the bases and homerun calls. They can't totally take away the human element.

In order to make Major League Baseball America's favorite past time again; what changes need to be address and made?

What do you think? Personally, I think its time has come but I don't think the timing is right. Something like that shouldn't be introduced at this point in the season. Either start it during the playoffs, when everyone goes back to 0-0, or wait until Spring Training.But...my...

Does baseball need an NFL-style replay, or is bad officiating still OK in 2009?

With 162 games each season it's very hard to imagine players staying motivated even when their team is well out of the playoffs (mathematically). Do you think the leagues should shorten the season? Why or why not?

Has the American Major League Baseball World Series lost its luster? Are as many fans interested in the World Series as before? I am a sports fan; I have been all my life. However, since some playoff games are on cable, I was not even able to watch my favorite team in the League Championships. Since...
