Why do Sportsfans take following their team to the extreme?
After the San Diego Chargers vs Denver Broncos game last night, several people were hospitalized during an altercation over the game. These types if incidents are becoming a common occurrence. Why would you take a game so seriously?
It's kind of like "cliques" back in school days...people flock together who like the same things and attack others who don't agree with them. Since they feel their team is a crucial part of their identity, they take it personally when someone attacks it in any way.
It's not just a game to some folks. It's sad that this kind of thing happens.
The game just becomes an excuse to act like an idiot...at least for one side, the other perhaps was just defending themselves. The fact is, yes, this is becoming more common but not just in the sports world. People are fighting over all kinds of things and I think that it's a result of people being frustrated by soooo many things going on that they feel they have no control over and can do nothing about. A sporting event becomes an outlet to take our minds off the rest....but.... Take an already frustrated, perhaps high strung individual, put them in a highly intense, testosterone filled environment, give them the hope of SOMETHING going right for them, fill them with alcohol, have their team lose and then tell them "Yeah! We won! and your team sucks!" Now multiply that by a few hundred people and voila, you have the recipe for a brawl. Not saying I would or that it's okay but certainly you can see how this might unfold. Granted, people do take their sports too seriously at times but I just think overall, people are very on edge these days and under the right circumstances, POP!

As many of you might have heard, Tim Tebow has tried out to play minor league baseball, and it looks like the Mets are giving him a huge contract. I don't know the specifics of it, but I've heard that supposedly he's going to be paid way more than the average player on the...

Everywhere I look people are upset and threatening to leave over the forums and I don't get it. Who cares if someone disagrees with your point of view? You dont have to wake up next to them in the morning so why does it matter so much?
