Baseball Nicknames Quiz

Updated on February 20, 2014

Baseball has the Best Nicknames

Lately some of the nicknames in baseball have become lazy -- take the first initial along with the first three letters of the last name and Alex Rodriguez becomes ARod. Not exactly creative, but at least it's creative.

Historically, however, baseball has had the best nicknames. How well do you know them?

A Baseball Book For Fans and non-Fans Alike

Whether you're a baseball fan or not, you gotta read Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game. It's the story of Billy Beane, the general manager of MLB's Oakland A's. He didn't have the money to outspend other teams. So he had to outsmart them.

Baseball Stories

The title of the book references a pitch thrown by Yankee Carl Mays in 1920 that fractured the skull of Ray Chapman, a shortstop for the Cleveland Indians. But that's just one story in a book that's full of compelling tales set against the backdrop of America's pass time. It's perfect light reading for anyone, baseball fan or not.
