Best Softball Catcher Gloves

A catcher and their glove go together like peanut butter and jelly. If you ask any real competitive catcher, their most prized possession is their glove. It takes time and dedication to make that glove fit just right and it takes even more time to get used to it. However with so much use and wear, a cheap or poor quality glove can set any catcher back, which is why it is important to do your research and find the best glove that will fit your needs and stay in one piece.

To aid you in this quest for the perfect glove, I have already done the work for you and found the top three catching gloves for softball catchers. The MIzuno MVP Prime, Easton SYFP2000, and the Mizuno Prospect are three of the best catching gloves and will provide you with adequate protect, good feel and of course, excellent durability. With any of these three gloves your money will be well spent and you will not have to worry about any glove mishaps in the middle of a game. You can also take the time and apply adequate attention to the glove so as to improve its comfort while not having to worry that the glove will fall apart like some do.

There are plenty of other catching gloves on the market but take it from a professional who was just about born with a glove in her hand, these are the best you will find without breaking the piggy bank.

The Number One Best Catching Glove:

The best catcher glove for softball is the Mizuno MVP Prime. Mizuno has a right-handed throwers version and a left-handed throwers version. The glove's pocket does is not webbed so it is a nice black target which pitchers love. The glove is at first very stiff and takes a little bit to break in, but once it is broken in it quickly takes on the feel of an extension to your hand. It also has a great pop sound when it catches, which all pitchers love to hear. The glove is meant for a smaller hand so not that great for men. This glove has lots of padding in it so no more sore thumbs with this glove.

The Mizuno Prospect is also a great glove. With the synthetic leather, It is extremely easy to break in. Mizuno has this glove for left and right handed throwers. This glove has a webbed pocket and has a nice pop to it when caught in the pocket. This glove also has great padding so as to protect your hand.

The Third Best Catching Glove:

If black isn't your color, then the Easton SYFP2000 will do the trick. It has great padding so you won't have to worry about your hand being bruised after a game, however the padding isn't too great so as to hinder the closure of your glove. This glove comes ready for game play, so there is no need to use gallons of glove oil and will instantly be comfortable. This is a great glove for 12u level or 14u level of softball. It has a nice pocket and gives a pitcher a nice target. This glove is available for right and left handed throwers.

With these three options, you should have no problem finding the right glove for your needs. Each one has their pro's and con's but either way, each one will do the trick and help you when you are behind the plate.

Make sure that once you get the glove, you take the appropriate steps to get the glove good and ready for game play. This includes using oil, rubber bands and more. By breaking in your softball glove, you will improve your sports play and increase the comfort so make sure not to skip this step!
