Black Diamond Stone Climbing Glove Review

After some extensive research on reviewing all the comments and user ratings of the Black Diamond Stone Climbing Glove, I had to give it these gloves a big thumbs up! These are one of the best fingerless climbing gloves and are ideal if you are looking into handling carabiners or for big wall leading. I will tell you what I liked best and even what I think about some small issues that could have been improved.

My Favorite Feature of the Stone Glove - Great reinforcement in the high wear areas

While researching this product, I found that it had a superb feature which is quite rare for climbing gloves. Those that don't climb have to realize that belays, big-wall climbs and demanding aid pitches will leave devastation on your hands. It is essential to have reinforced spots on climbing gloves - Black Diamond Stone Climbing Glove is perfect in this area, because it has reinforced leather palm and knuckle patches with Kevlar stitching. Yeah, you read it correctly, Kevlar stitching! And not only that - they have great reinforcement in all the right places - the high wear areas.

Five Reasons This is Best Climbing Glove

All the Reasons why you should go for this Glove!

Having to decide upon the best climbing glove is at least an ungrateful task. One of the main reasons is because there are a lot of different types of climbing gloves, regarding of the type of climb that you do and the task they are meant for. However, when I came across this glove, I was certain I found a keeper. Although it's primary function as a climbing glove, what it really is - an all-rounder! I read about people use this glove as a motorcycle glove, driving glove, for backpacking, hitting the heavy bag etc. And that is not even the main reason, why this glove is a champ!

I.You wouldn't like to buy a new glove every climb you make, would you? Durability is a necessity!

I have literally seen glove fall apart from one climb alone. Not to mention how safe-wise is carrying such a glove! This glove on other hand is really well-constructed in every aspect. It is made from durable goat leather which won't fall apart even in a variety of environments, a a variety of temperatures or even in a a variety of different climbing styles (we all have one, don't we?).

II.One of the words that is almost synonymous to climbing is a dexterity!

Black Diamond Stone Climbing Glove will provide you with a plenty of dexterity to go around, specially in the fields that require just that, such as belaying and aid climbing when you need that good finger feel! This glove achieves that mainly because of two reasons: it has 3/4 finger length, which is obviously the main reason (with full-finger glove you don't have that direct touch) and by using many layers of goat leather skinthicker at the high use areas and thinner at the low use areas.

III. Kevlar! Isn't this material used in body armor?!

I am not sure if any other glove has reinforced stitching with Kevlar like this model. Kevlar is a para-aramid synthetic fiber whic is 5 times stronger than steel. This and extra leather extender under the fingers will make sure to keep you hands safe from all of the dangers in traditional rock climbing.

IV.Softness - maybe I will even use them as a pillow :)!

I really hate when I have to wear glove (just like wearing a new shoes, which give you pleasant things, like a blister...) for quite some time to get that soft feeling of usage. Black Diamond Stone Climbing Glove has got leather goat skin which makes them soft and comfortable right away and they don't need a long break-in period.

V.Just look at them - they are!

They have that modern minimalistic look that you simply cannot resist. While some other climbing gloves are made like you are wearing a commercial, this model has clean lines and really minimum amount of branding.

Two more Areas Improved!

As I said in the beginning, declaring the best climbing glove is not an easy thing to do - specially when you could be comparing apples and oranges! However we can compare some common features and there are two of them that stand out in a bit negative way.

I.Weight and some minor design flaw

No, I didn't make mistake - I count features in this title as one, since they are really minor :). One of them is weight and this glove is slightly heavier than the rest of gloves in it's class (but then again, one of the top feature of any climber is his strength, so no problem here). Another one feature is the cuff around the wrist which is a little bigger and bulkier than the smaller Velcro closures we are often used to.

Black Diamond Stone Climbing Glove is a bit pricey model, just under 40 bucks. But then again, can you put a price on your safety?
