All you have to do is pick which flavor is your favorite, and click to have them sent directly to you. No more waiting for cookie season to arrive. Order your favorites online today. Buying them has never been easier!

The History of the Selling Tradition

A Great Fundraiser

The Girl Scouts have been selling cookies since 1917. They are a major fundraising effort with every box earning them 70% of the sale. In the early years the cookies were homemade by the girl's families and then in 1936 they licensed commercial bakeries. Although the bakeries sometimes change, currently the official licensed bakeries are Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers. Sometimes the names are different but they are still the same cookie. An example is Samoas and Carmel deLites - same delicious taste, they just have different names.

In the past the Girl Scouts sold them door to door until safety concerns turned to selling in booths in malls and businesses. The money from the sales are used to fund activities, support camps, and maintain council administration costs. The sales go to a good cause.

The tricky part is trying to find which mall they're selling them at. They can be a bit illusive and hard to find. Which is why ordering them is so much easier. Weekends are usually your best bet to find them in a mall.

Selling the Cookies

I can remember selling the cookies when I was a Girl Guide, oh so many years ago. I would walk up to the door trembling, my speech rehearsed many times over. I do not know why I was scared to ring the doorbell as most people bought a box and they were quite nice. Sometimes they even bought two boxes.

I was quite dedicated to selling the cookies and would go out most days right after school. One year I sold the most cookies which was quite a feat considering how scared I was to ring that doorbell.
