The Best and Biggest Collection of Campsite Reservation Websites

Welcome to the Technology Age! You Can Reserve Campsites Online!

Whether you are planning a cross country road trip, stealing away for a weekend in the wilderness, or planning a family vacation, this collection of websites is guaranteed to make your life much EASIER.

Over the past couple of years, my fiancé and I have discovered that we love to go camping. Both of us are fans of doing everything possible online and I have discovered the wonderful world of booking campsites via the internet.

It took me awhile to make my discovery of reserving campsites online because I found that there is no general collection of campground directories that allow online reservations. So... I decided to create one!

I have painstakingly compiled a list of websites that mostly allow you to make online reservations at federal, state, and some private campgrounds. I hope you find this directory of sorts helpful when planning your next camping trip!

Some Benefits of Booking a Campsite Online

  • A lot of the reservation websites allow you to see a campground map and the exact location of your campsite. So, if you would prefer not to be next to the bathrooms or if you want to make sure your site is near a playground, the campground maps really come in handy.
  • Some of the websites allow you to search out campgrounds that have a certain feature. For example, if you would like to find a campground that offers waterfront campsites, you can do a search for that specific feature and only campsites available on the dates you are searching for will pop up.
  • If you have a specific campsite in mind, a number of websites display a picture of what your site looks like, so you know exactly what to expect upon arrival.
  • Most of the websites offer specs on each particular campsite and include the distance to the nearest bathroom, the nearest body of water, the nearest water pump, and whether or not the campsite offers shade.

Rome Industries 1705 Pie Iron Sandwich Cooker
Rome Industries 1705 Pie Iron Sandwich Cooker

A Pie Iron is a must have for every camping trip! We call these yummy camp sandwiches "Pudgie Pies." Use these Pie Irons to make breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert, they are that versatile! I love this particular brand of Pie Iron because it is quality-made, durable, and will literally last for years and years.

Links for Online Reservations in All 50 States

In the list below, you will have access to all of the State Parks in the United States. Most of them allow online reservations. State Parks tend to have a lower nightly fee than private campgrounds and can be more rustic with fewer amenities. So if you want to become one with nature, I highly recommend finding the perfect State Park, whether you're going on a fishing trip or taking your family on vacation.

My Favorite Camping Gadgets on Amazon - I own each of these gadgets, read below to see my reviews.

Coleman Portable Propane Coffeemaker with Stainless Steel Carafe
Coleman Portable Propane Coffeemaker with Stainless Steel Carafe

My fiance and I bought this coffeemaker last summer before our last camping trip. We both hate campfire coffee, so the delicious coffee that came out of this Coleman Coffeemaker was such a treat! The coffee brewed quickly and easily. This is definitely my favorite camping gadget and well worth the money spent.

Some Private Campgrounds that Allow Online Reservations

Here is a list of some, but definitely not all, of the Private Campgrounds that have an online reservation system. If you're looking for a kid friendly destination with a pool and activities, a RV Park might meet your needs!

Portable 24 LED Super Bright Deluxe Camping Lantern with Compass (colors vary)
Portable 24 LED Super Bright Deluxe Camping Lantern with Compass (colors vary)

This LED Camping Lantern is BRIGHT! This lantern literally lights up your campsite at night. I also love this lantern because it is lightweight and easy to handle. I would definitely recommend this lantern rather than a propane lantern. It is much safer and doesn't get hot, which are great qualities if you have children.

I did tent camping then I was younger, but we have an RV now. That's roughing it enough for me. Thanks for this great list. We mostly camp at race tracks, but do enjoy seeing all of the beautiful campgrounds around the country. We've never been disappointed.
