How to Save Money by Buying Running Gear on Amazon

One of the best things about running as a sport is that it does not require a substantial investment to get started. You can lace up your shoes and get going basically anywhere, without needing a gym membership. However, you will still want to purchase a few items, and you might as well get the best deal as possible on them! By buying your running shoes, heat wicking shirts, and running shorts online at Amazon, you can save time and money. If you like your running clothes and shoes, and feel good about yourself when you wear them, you will be more likely to be excited to hit the road and get in your miles.

You can save a lot of money buying your running shoes and other gear online. Running shoes can be very expensive to buy new, and you have to replace them frequently if you run longer distances. As you increase the mileage on your runs you will want to replace your shoes sooner and sooner. Buying running shoes online allows you to buy last year's models which are often significantly cheaper.

Getting Started Running

For the Beginning Runners

Almost anyone can start a running or walking program, even if you have no previous experience with sports. Beginning runners should look for couch to 5k programs online, that will get you up and going with ease. If running is too much for you, get going with a walking program. You will be shocked at how fast you will feel the benefits. When I started running I found that I had more energy throughout the day, slept sounder at night, and could focus better on my work.

Without Leaving Your Home

Not only does buying theses items at Amazon save you money, but you can also do it without having to leave your home. Instead of driving, dealing with traffic and parking, to a store you can browse the selection from your computer. You can take all the time that you need to make an informed decision with all of the reviews and product information to compare which is the best for you. There are often more brands and sizes available, and keep an eye out for last years models for a discount.

The prices on Amazon are often significantly lower than in a traditional store. Not just by a dollar or two either, sometimes as much as thirty to forty percent, depending on the type of item. Some states now require that you pay sales tax for items purchased on Amazon.

To save money on shipping, sign up for Amazon Prime and purchase items through vendors that qualify for Amazon prime shipping. You should not have to pay for shipping if you are an Amazon Prime member, unless you want rush delivery. You also will receive a host of other benefits with the membership, such as free streaming videos online and digital cloud storage space.

Safety Gear - Great for Both Men and Women

Running is a pretty safe sport, but it is always good to take precautions. If you go running at night or dusk, wear bright or neon clothing to improve your visibility to drivers. You need to also make sure that you have proper identification, with an emergency number and medical information attached. No one ever plans for an accident or emergency to occur, so it is good to be prepared before you find yourself in a bad situation.

Money Saving Tip!

Look for last year's shoe models online. They rarely change much year to year, the cost savings can be significant.

Women's Running Shoes

Running shoes are something that you might consider buying for the first time in an actual store. Dedicated running stores should have a salesperson who can help analyze the shape of your foot and any issues with your stride that need to be taken into account when selecting shoes. Once you are familiar with what you need in a shoe, and how they will fit you, look to buy them online as well. When looking online, look for the steepest discounts on the previous years models that are still available.

Trail Running

Get out of your comfort zone, and try trail running! It is a great way to connect with nature, change up your routine a bit, and explore places you would not otherwise see.

For short trail runs, your normal shoes will be just fine. However, if it is slightly muddy, or something you plan to make a habit of, then you should get a pair of trail running shoes. This will help protect you from injury on the uneven trails and prolong the life of your road shoes.
