How to spot an attacker and what to do in a survival situation
Spot an attacker
What does the attackers body language look like?
Let’s say you were in a situation in public. You see someone from afar that is walking slowly. He then looks at you, he speeds up. This man slows down again, and then speeds up. What is this man doing? His body language is classic of a person that is about to attack you. There are many other ways an attacker can show body language, but this is the most common.
Also, keep in mind that not everyone that moves this way is an attacker.
If you see someone moving in the fashion stated above, be cautious. Have what you can ready to prevent an attack, or take him down.
If you fail to do so, and you find yourself in a bad situation where you have to survive, there are things you can do.
Use your senses
We do not really realize the capabilities that certain senses have. If you are ever in a survival situation, you may need to use all of them. You have five senses, and your sixth sense is connected to all of them. Have you ever realized what you are capable of? If you use and understand all of your senses, you are capable of a lot.
Sight
If you have the gift of sight in any bad situation, use it. Look around you. Look at every place you can for an escape route. Pay attention to your attacker too. He may be paying attention to where you are looking. Do not look obvious when you are doing this. You should appear aloof.
Scope out everything in the room you can. Do you see weapons that you can get to later if you cannot escape? Also, pay attention to your attacker. What is he doing? Where is he looking? Chances are the attacker will give himself away to what he is going to do next.
A person has a tendency to look at things right before they do them. For example, a person may look at a door before they go out. Someone will look at the television right before they turn it on. This is known as telegraphing moves. If you understand what the attacker is going to do next, you will be better prepared to handle the situation accordingly.
Eye contact is important. A person connects with another person when they use eye contact. This is a very powerful tool. You can establish a certain rapport with your attacker by using eye contact. It is not only rapport, but you narrow your chances of being attacked. You are showing your attacker that you are calm, and taking some power away from him. Most of the time, the attacker wants to feel in charge, and in power. Use eye contact, and remain calm. This may play games with your attackers mind. He may want you to scream, yell and kick. You may be fueling the attacker even more when you do this.
When you use eye contact, do it sparingly though. You do not want to appear as you are aggressive.
smell
What can you smell? If you can smell something from a distance, you are also more aware of your surroundings. Awareness is important. Are there other people around you? Sometimes you can smell people. If you can pick up other peoples scent, cologne, or body odor, you can also understand better what you are dealing with.
Maybe you can pick up on the scent of food being cooked at a distance. This should tell you there are people around. If you are able to escape, you should know there are people you can go to for help.
hearing
Your ears are amazing. You can hear better than you may think. If the world is quiet around you, and you concentrate on this sense, you can hear for miles.
Stay quiet; listen to everything in your surroundings. What do you hear? Can you hear where your attacker is? Can you hear someone at a distance? If you hear other people in a distance, you may be able to plan your escape route.
Understand Adrenaline
Adrenaline is something more than a rapid pulse, and a raise of blood pressure. It kicks in when a situation becomes overwhelming. Adrenaline is a VERY powerful tool. When adrenaline kicks in, the only thing that can stop you from defending yourself is self-doubt
Mothers have lifted cars off of their babies, and others have had done things they never knew they were capable of when adrenaline kicked in. Your body will tell you what to do, if you just listen to it.
What does an animal do before he stalks his prey? He sits quietly, watching every movement around him, and he uses focus. He moves only at the right time. When he does move, he uses all of his adrenaline, and he puts it all together with one swift attack.
The same will apply if you are ever in a survival situation. You should maintain focus, be clam, and wait until the time is right to defend yourself. Your body will tell you to run, only do this if you focus, and see a way out. If there is no way out, panic may kick in. However, panic is the wrong thing to do. It may be vital for your survival not to panic.
If you are ever in a hostile, or survival situation, use all of your senses to your advantage. Do not let adrenaline get in control of you. Instead, control it, and focus this powerful energy when you need it.
This is where you should hit your attacker
How powerful is poking someone in the eyes?
defend yourself
If you ever have to defend yourself, plan out what you are going to do next. For example, if you hit your attacker with something, know where you are going to go after you do this. You should not hang out with your attacker. Do what you have to do, and get out of the area.
After you are aware of your surroundings by using your senses, and your adrenaline has kicked in, it is time to take action. Are you better off running, or fighting?
If you cannot escape without getting past your attacker, you are going to have to fight. How do you fight? Where will you hit your attacker to get him away? How will you hit your attacker? If you were never trained in self-defense, aim for an area that is large and will knock him down.
Pick an area that you cannot miss. If you only have one shot, choose it wisely.
Aim for the solar plexus. You can take the wind out of them long enough to get out of your situation. When you strike this area, do it with quickness, and force. Use all of your adrenaline, put it together, and push it out with a punch to the solar plexus.
If your attacker is close to you, you should get your hands free. After at least one of your hands are free, take out his site. You can use a finger, and push it into an eye. Once you have disabled your attacker, get out of the area.
You should never inflict harm on anyone unless you are placed in a situation that you have to survive. If you are placed in a survival situation, it is important to use only the amount of force nessacery to protect yourself.
