Manchester United, a great football club

Manchester United are one of the most popular and successful football clubs in the world. They are ranked as the richest and most valuable club in any sport and they have the highest revenue of any football club in the world.

Players such as George Best, Eric Cantona, Carlos Tevez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs, Bobby Charlton and Paul Scholes have consistently scored spectacular and memorable goals. Here are a selection of the best.

George Best

George Best at his peak was one of the best players the world had ever seen. He reached the heights with Manchester United and scored some absolutely fantastic goals in a career that was far too short.

He arrived in Manchester from Belfast at the age of 15 in 1961. It took him two seasons to become a first team regular. Then in six seasons with United, he scored 115 goals in 290 games including six in one game! He won two League Championships, the European Cup and was voted European Football of the Year.

Mosr fans would say that he is the most gifted footballer ever produced in the British Isles. He had a dazzling ability and he scored some truly memorable goals. Here are some of the best - of the Best.

Eric Cantona

Eric Cantona joined Manchester United from Leeds United in November 1992. Cantona`s class and talent had never been in doubt, but he had a reputation for unpredictability and had often clashed with authority.

He quickly settled into Alex Ferguson's talented side and his subtle skills blossomed on the big stage of Old Trafford.

As well being a superb goal provider with a range of delightfully weighted chips and flicks into open spaces for his colleagues to run on to, Cantona also proved to be a master goalscorer.

Here are some of his best.

David Beckham

David Beckham is a top class football professional and is a gifted self-publicist to boot. Marrying a Spice Girl is a pretty good start tko becoming one of the most famous footballers in the world. He scored some superb goals for the club, including his famous shot from inside his own half in 1996 and he is world renowned as a free-kick specialist.

In 2003, David transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid, where he played for 4 football seasons, before moving again to sign an exclusive 5 year contract with LA Galaxy (Los Angeles Galaxy in America).

Ryan Giggs

Ryan Giggs is a top world footballer for both Manchester United and Wales. Manchester United is his his only club and he first played for the first team when he was just 17 years old, after a spectacular career as a top junior in a fantastic youth squad.

It was not long after that he made his international debut for Wales when he came on as a substitute against West Germany in June 1991.

Giggs typifies the attacking flair and spirit that is the tradition of Manchester United. He is a great crowd pleaser with his his mazy dribbling runs and lightening darts through defences which suddenly seem leaden-footed and he has scored some spectacular goals. Here are some of them.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Born in Madeira, andn amed because of his father's respect for Ronald Regan, Crisiano Ronaldo has developed into the most exciting footballer in the world. He scored 2 goals on his debut for Porto aged 17 and he has continued to score goals freely ever since.
