Manny Pacquiao is more than just a boxer.

He is

  • Politician
  • Activist
  • Husband
  • Son
  • Father
  • Roman Catholic
  • actor
  • Self made millionaire
  • A hero to many
  • The best pound for pound fighter in the world

Manny has had a hall of fame career in professional boxing.

His record is 58 fights,53 wins with 3 losses and 2 draws with 38 wins coming by knockout.

He is the first 8 division world champion, a record I think will stand for awhile.

I hope that Manny will get to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. soon, it seems to me that Floyd is avoiding Manny, I mean who can turn down a 100 million dollar fight.

I can tell you who, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

I do understand that Floyd is undefeated and if he did lose a fight it would be devastating to him,so I will give Floyd some advice, don't fight Manny, nobody can beat him right now.

Manny was so confident that he was gonna win his last fight that he went ahead and rented a building in Las Vegas for his fans to watch him beat Shane Mosley.

He dominated Mosley, the former world champion winning all 12 rounds on 2 of the 3 judges scorecards.

Then took a shower and went to celebrate with his fans.

Then jumped on a plane to get back to work in congress in the Phillippines and spend time with his family.

How cool is that.

That is what made him a hero in my eyes.

He has several nicknames

  • pac man
  • The fighting congressman
  • The fighting pride of the Phillippines
  • The destroyer
  • The peoples champ

Most people don't know that he is a singer

In 2011 he recorded a cover version of the song sometimes when we touch.

I have the video below for your enjoyment.

You may have seen Manny in a television commercial for the HP touch pad.

HA-HA Millions of hits.... See the video below.

Why Manny is a hero to me

He loves his country and is actually making a difference there.

He is passionate about whatever he does.

A few years ago he was an under dog.

He has stuck by his trainer Freddy Roach, even while he is fighting Parkinson's disease.

He loves his fans

He is a funny guy

He has a unique charismatic personality

He may be the best boxer ever before his career is finished.

He is going to retire from boxing soon

To be a full time politician

He will beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. if given the chance.

I didn't know Manny was involved in all of that. And yes I also believe that Mayweather doesn't want to fight Pac Man. This is the fight that everyone wants to see. The two best fighters in boxing right now, yet Mayweather refuses to enter the ring. Great Hub

I think that I can definitely understand your appreciation for Manny Pacquiao, he's quite the talented athlete. I myself have never been the extremely avid watcher of MMA or other fighting leagues, but I can still enjoy watching someone as talented as he is. To be honest though, it's not his abilities or skills that impress me or appreciate him the most - it's his modesty.
