Lets take a loser look at the first stage of this regulator

The First stage is made of brass and completely plated with chrome, and has 4 low pressure port and 2 high pressure port aligned for optimum house routing.

Balanced Diaphragm Design - Because the Ranger 12s uses a Balanced diaphragm design it should be no performance change at deeper depth or on low tank pressure.

Environmentally Sealed - None of the internal parts of the regulator are exposed to the surrounding water and contaminants such as salt, silt, sand, or chlorine in pools. These types of contaminants may cause corrosion and mineral deposits on parts which will in time deteriorate the performance of the regulator.

Tri-Material Valve Technology - This technology was patented by Mares to optimize safety, reliably, and performance. It is comprised of a brass valve covered in hard Polyurethane, and the sealing surface is made from soft Polyurethane to create the perfect seal; further enhancing the durability of the regulator.

Dynamic Flow Control (DFC) - Another unique feature of the first-stage is the Dynamic Flow Control system. It basically minimizes the intermediate pressure drop when you inhale, this makes it possible for you to use simpler and more reliable second stage. Also, No type of manual user adjustments of the second stage is needed due to the consistency derived from a first stage that guarantees a stable flow of air, even under extreme conditions.

Now Lets take a look at some of the features of the Second Stage

Mid-Size Stylish Second Stage - The Rover 12s features a stylish mid-size second stage made of techno-polymer, this make the second stage light weights and help reduce jaw fatigue.

Soft Purge Diaphragm with Mesh-Grid - It also has a soft purge diaphragm that can easily be push even while wearing very thick gloves. The Mesh Grid on the cover reduces the pressure of water flowing onto the regulators diaphragm and minimizing free-flow. This eliminates the need for a knob to de-tune the air delivery system when diving in strong currents.

Downstream Demand Valve- This is the most reliable regulator valve design, it is virtually fail safe, further enhancing the reliability of the regulator. However, because it is unbalanced, traditionally you would expect to loose performance a greater depths or on lower tank pressures, but this is not so, due to the Vortex Assist Design system build in to the second stage.

Vortex Assit Design (V.A.D.) System - This System has an air bypass tube that conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths and tank pressures.

Fluid Dynamic Deflector - Another great feature of the second stage is the Fluid Dynamic Deflector which direct the airflow from the bypass tube to the mouthpiece. Combined with the VAD system it delivers very natural and effortless breathing.
