Why Microfiber Towels Make Me Happy!

Updated on January 31, 2016

Microfiber Towels

The last time I went camping I bought three of these quick drying microfiber towels and they were absolutely terrific. They were so good that I take them with me when I go on ordinary trips too, because they are super light, a great size and they dry very quickly.

I love camping a lot and I have been on many, many wonderful trips over the years. I became even more enthusiastic when my son was born. But not all of it is fun, and sometimes I understand why some people would rather not have a holiday if it means spending just one night in a tent!

But the thing, probably above all else, that really makes me feel depressed are soggy wet towels! They are most definitely my pet hate.

When you have a child with you towels just never seem to dry! Have you noticed that? Mine were always wet, even after hours hanging on the side of the tent or spread out in the back of the car!

That's because we use them more than once a day. If you think about it, you need a towel in the morning for your shower, and then again about 10 hours later to have a wash in the evenings. But if you add a young child to that equation, then you'll need dry towels all day long, especially if you're anywhere near a beach or lake!

Do you enjoy camping or are you someone who cannot bear to be without your creature comforts?

If you are not convinced about the small size of these micro towels - then don't worry here's a large one for you!

At home we can cope, somehow –we know how to sort them out. But when you’re camping they very soon they start to smell horribly musty – don’t they? Yuk!

Ordinary towels take up so much space too. They are huge and in order to keep them as dry as possible I also pack hand towels and use them first. So that means at least one bag is full of only towels!

So imagine my delight when I discovered these nifty little quick dry microfiber towels!

I first came across them when a friend came to stay for a stop over. He was on his way to Scotland. I put a towel at the foot of his bed, but he didn't use it. He told me he had his own! And he pulled out this bright green, very soft square, about the size of a tea towel from his ingeniously packed backpack. I was unsure to say the least!

After his shower, he washed it, rang it out and hung it on a hook in the bathroom. It was completely dry in no time at all, ready to be packed in a small pocket on the side of his backpack. I was so impressed!

He explained that even though they are small they are very absorbent so they completely dry you off, you just don't need a lot of material if it is absorbent enough.

So in my opinion this is the best invention ever! It has changed my whole outlook on camping with my family. It really has! We have a colour each, and we are all responsible for our own, my son is 13 now!

Sea to Summit DryLite towels are made of a very soft microfiber, they feel like suede to the touch. This one is better than mine because it has a silver-ion antibacterial treatment, which is a permanent coating that stops bacteria growing so your towel never smells as has no germs lurking in it! The guy in the video below explains more about that.

Now where could you use these? Everywhere! At the gym, pool, beach, with a baby, anywhere. They're really cool and I highly recommend them.

I use them when I travel and they have made me very happy indeed.

I write about all sorts of things that you'll need when you travel. Here's an example: Family Tents and How to Choose them

Do you like the sound of these towels? Please leave a comment. Thanks very much indeed for your visit.

I take mine everywhere I go too! Thanks for your visit. Enjoy your next camping trip - I wish we could go three times a year -the weather here in the UK doesn't really allow for that. But we're off to Scotland soon - can't wait!

Aren't they the best! We do a lot of camping, like at least three times a year which seems like a lot to me. Microfiber towels are one of those comforts I don't how I ever did without. Camping, travel, gym- if I ever hitchhike the galaxy, this is the towel I am taking.

These look like a great idea. I already use microfiber cloths to clean camera lenses. Thank you for publishing this review.

Great review! I love the idea of quick drying towels. I'd heard good things about these, but never realized that. It's easy to see how handy they must be. Thanks for sharing.
