Arshiya goes through a weekly ritual of watching wrestling week after week, just to keep company to her husband Zahid – a wrestling maniac. In this month’s guest column, Arshiya writes about wrestling and expresses her pity for those wrestling maniac who enjoy and appreciate this injustice and cruel act of mankind.
In school we learnt W stands for Watch, Window etc... But now I can remember only that W stands for Wrestlers and Wrestling!
Previously I had no idea of what WWF, WCW and NWO is?
And all the other associations dealing with the Ws’ that is Wrestlers! But now, just within one year I am about to complete my Masters Degree and determine to apply for a PhD. I can now tell you the wrestlers’ names, Belts, the associations they belong to, the matches they played and the ones they are going to play.
Wrestlers are exceptionally huge figures with two strong arms, very rough and tough body, mountainous to appear and more dangerous when they apply paints, make-up or even wear mask. They are nothing less than nightmares.
Some of these devils are of Hougon, Piper, Lex Nuger, Undertaker, Austin, Flair, Diamond Douglas, Sting, Macho Man, Bret Heart, Alex Wright and infinite others. Now-a -days mothers frighten their babies by saying: “Soja Beta, warna Wrestler Aa Jayega” and not Gabbar (a famous dialogue from the Hindi movie Sholay, about Gabbar Singh!)
The growing craze for these wrestlers makes me feel more sad and unhappy. Just for money and fame, they break each other’s hands and legs. What sort of satisfaction and achievement is this? That too by hurting others!
Moreover, I feel more pity for those who enjoy and appreciate this injustice and cruel act of mankind. From cock fight and bull fight, it has reached to the betting of human-fight. There is no end or limit to man’s greed for excitement and entertainment. It is an inhuman and harmful deed of mankind.
Oh God! Please save the world from these devils – i.e. wrestlers! How nice it would have been if they would have used the same power, skill, ability and intelligence in the betterment and upliftments of the society, which I feel better than physical upliftment of human body.
Oh God! I would like a fall in the category of Wrestling Maniacs. If not the World, at least save me from the wrath of this game called Wrestling.
