Pat Summerall

It's still kind of hard for me to watch the NFL knowing that I will not hear the distinctive voice of Pat Summerall doing at least one game on a Sunday afternoon. For years, I remember listening to him and John Madden call pro football, what a great duo they were. Pat Summerall, who died on April 16, 2013, also enjoyed a ten year NFL career as a placekicker for three different teams.

In 1977, Summerall was named the National Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He was also inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1994.

Summerall broadcasted 16 Super Bowls on network television with CBS and FOX, more than any other announcer.
