My Review of the Pelican Apex 100

An Awesome Introductory Kayak

This pelican kayak gives great stability to new paddlers and will allow you to grow in the sport. It is a very basic kayak with only one storage area in the stern (rear) of the boat behind the single seat provided on the kayak. While some accessories can be added to the Apex 100 to outfit it for some casual fishing, the Apex 100 should be primarily considered as a recreational kayak.

In general, I recommend this kayak for new paddlers looking for a casual kayak for use on weekend getaways and day trips.

Pros of the Pelican Apex 100

• Price: This is a 10 foot kayak for around $300 or less. Don't buy this kayak for more than $300. Wait, the price will come down or look for it somewhere else. If you can't find the Apex 100 for under $300, consider the Emotion Temptation Sit On Top Kayak

• Molded Foot Braces: The foot braces are sturdy and provide a great brace for paddling.

• Adjustable Back Rest: The padded back rest is adjustable for additional comfort and convenience.

• Compact Design: The Apex 100 is a 10 foot kayak that weighs only 43 pounds and features carrying handles at the bow and stern.

• Hull Material: Pelican Apex 100 Kayaks feature the exclusive Ram-X layered material with high impact tolerance, built in UV protection, and the ability to maintain its original shape. (Learn More)

Cons of the Pelican Apex 100

• Colors: The Pelican Apex 100 only comes in 1 color choice.

• Storage: The Apex 100 has adequate storage for beginner use, but more experienced paddlers may wish for more.

My Final Take: While the total number of included accessories and features of the Pelican Apex 100 aren't overwhelming, this is still an excellent choice for new paddlers looking for a reasonably priced kayak.

Do you have a Pelican Apex 100 already? Are you looking to purchase one? Why do you like this affordable 10 footer?
