The 2011 Rugby World Cup was the seventh Rugby World Cup. New Zealand was selected as the host country in 2011.

1. Daniel Carter - First five-eighth / Christchurch HSOB
Daniel William Carter was born in Southbridge, a small town in the South Island of New Zealand. He is currently the highest points scorer in test match rugby and is regarded as one of rugby's greatest ever fly-halves.
In 2008 American Cable Channel E! Entertainment judged Carter to be 11th on their list of Sexiest Men in The World. In 2010, E! voted Carter the 3rd sexiest male athlete in the World.
On 27 November 2010, after scoring a halfway penalty against Wales, Carter became the highest point scorer of all time, overtaking England's Jonny Wilkinson's previous record of 1,178 although Wilkinson took the record back on 26 February 2011 against France. Carter reclaimed the record on 30 July 2011 when he advanced to 1,204 points in the first tri-nations match of the 2011 series against South Africa. He has currently scored a total of 1,219 test points (29 tries, 216 conversions, 211 penalties, and 3 drop goals) in 82 tests, with an average of 15.0 points a game (the highest average for players who have scored more than 500 Test points). Along with Richie McCaw Carter earns 750,000 NZD a year being the joint highest paid player in New Zealand. This high paying contract by the New Zealand Rugby Union is not subject to form or fitness as both players are regarded integral to the All Blacks 2011 Rugby World Cup plans. 2. Sonny Bill Williams - Second five-eighth / Belfast
Sonny Bill Williams made his All Blacks debut against England at Twickenham in 2010, and stunned Murrayfield with a freakish performance against Scotland where he caused havoc with every touch. His inclusion in the 2011 All Blacks squad comes off the back of an impressive maiden Investec Super Rugby season for the Crusaders. Williams switched to Rugby Union in July 2008, joining French club Toulon.
Sonny Bill Williams became a Muslim after converting to Islam in 2008. He is the first Muslim to represent the All Blacks, Crusaders and Barbarians.
On 27 May 2009, Williams made his debut as a professional boxer and defeated Garry Gurr with a Technical knockout (TKO) in the second round in Sydney. On 30 June 2010, he defeated Ryan Hogan in a bout that ended by way of TKO after only two minutes and 35 seconds. Williams described the preparation for the fight as "good off-season training" for his imminent debut for the Canterbury rugby team.
In 2010 Williams signed with the New Zealand Rugby Union in a bid to play for the All Blacks at the 2011 Rugby World Cup. He played for Canterbury Rugby Football Union in the 2010 NPC ITM Cup and plays for the Crusaders in the 2011 season of Super Rugby. 3. Tommy Bowe - Wing / Ospreys, Ireland
Tommy Bowe is an Irish rugby union footballer from County Monaghan, Ireland. He plays on the wing for the Ospreys, Ireland and the British and Irish Lions. Bowe received a call-up to the Ulster squad at the end of the 2003-04 season, scoring on his debut against Connacht and soon made his name as an Ulster regular. He won the Guinness Ulster Rugby Personality of the Year Award at the Ulster Rugby Awards Dinner in May 2005. In 2008, he won both the Ulster and Ireland Player of the Year awards. In December 2009 it was announced that Bowe had signed a 3 year extension with the Ospreys, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2012/13 season. In February 2010 against England in the 2010 Six Nations Championship, he scored two tries including the clinching try with five minutes remaining in a 20–16 win at Twickenham. 4. Thierry Dusautoir - Flanker / Toulouse
Thierry Dusautoir is a French rugby union player who currently plays for France at international level and Toulouse in the French Top 14 club competition. A graduate chemical engineer, Dusautoir is a strong ball carrier with good speed and strength to get out of the tackle. He made his debut for France in a test against Romania on 17 June 2006 at Cotroceni Stadium in Bucharest, Romania, where France defeated the Romanians 62-14. Dusautoir scored a try on debut as well. He also played in the subsequent match against the Springboks at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town which was also a victory for France. He left Biarritz and signed for Toulouse in 2006. He is perhaps most famous for his try against New Zealand in the quarter final of the 2007 World Cup in Cardiff in which he famously made 38 tackles, two more than the entire All blacks side; he was nominated for world player of the year solely on this performance. 5. Morgan Parra - Scrum half and Fly-half / ASM Clermont Auvergne
Morgan Parra is a rugby union player who plays as a Scrum half and occasionally Fly-half. He plays for Clermont Auvergne in the Top 14 after signing for them from Bourgoin. Parra has excellent vision and great speed of execution, technically efficient he has a good pass on his right and left hands. He is courageous in defence. He was seen as a back up kicker but during France's Grand Slam in 2010 he took the place kicks and soon took over the duties at his club Clermont Auvergne, he had a 87% success rate from 49 kicks at goal during the 2009/10 season. He is known to be a leader of the pack and is known in France as the petit generale, former France captain Lionel Nallet accurately described him as 'snarling and loud' referring to the amount of times he is seen shouting at his pack. 6. James O'Connor - Fly-half, Inside centre, Wing and Fullback / Western Force
James O'Connor is an Australian international rugby union footballer. He made his Wallabies debut in 2008. In the Super Rugby competition he played from 2008 to 2011 with Perth based Western Force, and subsequently signed to the Melbourne Rebels.
O'Connor became the youngest ever Super Rugby debutante when he came off the bench for the Western Force against the Queensland Reds in Week 10 of the 2008 Super 14 competition. He completed the season's final three matches running on at inside centre. In 2010 O'Connor played "11 of the 13 Western Force games and recorded 104 points. He also played 13 of Australia's 15 Tests, and was the 2010 Tri Nations Series' top try scorer together with Mils Muliaina. 7. Mike Phillips - Scrum-half / Bayonne
Mike Phillips is a Welsh international rugby union footballer who plays at scrum-half for Bayonne. He is the one of the tallest scrum halves in international rugby. Being tall and powerful, unusual properties in a scrum half, he also has a combative style to his game. Because of this combination, has been compared to ex-Wales international Terry Holmes. On 12 March 2011, Phillips scored a controversial try against Ireland in the Six Nations. When Irish fly-half Jonathan Sexton kicked the ball out of play, Wales hooker Matthew Rees proceeded to take a quick line-out with a different ball to the one which Sexton kicked out of play, which is against International Rugby Board regulations. Rees took the throw and Phillips held off Irish winger Tommy Bowe to score in the corner. The try was allowed to stand, and Wales won the game 19-13. 8. Richard Kahui - Midfield Back / Waikato
Richard Kahui is a New Zealand rugby union footballer. Kahui plays in the position of Centre. He plays for Waikato in the Air New Zealand Cup and made his Super 14 debut in 2006 with the Highlanders. Kahui was the top try scorer of the 2006 Air New Zealand Cup. In the 2007 Super 14 he was injured for a majority of the season, while playing for the Chiefs. He also won the 2006 steinlager award for the Air New Zealand Cup's best player. In 2010, Kahui returned to the All Blacks and was dynamic in the second test against Wales in Dunedin, where he scored a try from playing on the wing.
