The Women of Lucha Libre Mexicana 2

Updated on January 15, 2017

More of The Luchadoras of Lucha Libre

Here are some more Luchadoras from the world of Lucha Libre.

As I mentioned in the first Lens, the women in pro wrestling in Mexico aren't regulated to the lower rungs like they are here.

Sure they have their weird story lines, but the women are actually seen as trained combatants, so much so that there is actually a Mixed Tag-Team belt in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA).

And the contests for the belts aren't jokes like they are here, but actually look like hard fought bouts.

Okay, yes I do know that it's all scripted, but at least in Lucha Libre they try to make the female matches look authentic.

So here are some more women from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), AAA and other Mexican wrestling promotions.

Luchadora Pink
Luchadora Pink

Here is another beautiful and talented luchadora, Pink.

Okay, I'm kinda biased here because Pink is a really nice lady and we have conversed in e-mails.

But she really IS beautiful and talented!

Pink was born not in Mexico, but in San Antonio, Texas on February 3rd, 1982.

She was trained by Manny "The Raging Bull" Fernandez, Texas Wrestling Academy, Shawn Hernandez and Rudy Boy Gonzalez and made her pro wrestling debut in 2006 in her hometown.

This five foot six, 150 pound wrestler started out masked, but lost her mask to Chacala in a match on December 5th, 2008, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Rosa Negra (Black Rose) - Lucha Libre

Rosa Negra

Luchadora Rosa Negra (Black Rose) was born Jessica Dayna Hernandez, on January, 1972 in Mexico City, Mexico.

She made her lucha libre debut in 1992, and has wrestled as both La Andromeda and Rosa Negra.

Rosa was trained by Ringo Mendoza, Charrito de Oro and Maria del Angel, and is married to Luchador Enemigo Publico.

She wrestles for CMLL.

La Medusa (Medussa)
La Medusa (Medussa)

La Medusa (Medussa)

La Medusa was born Angelica Avila Lopez on December 28th, 1976 in Tijuana, Baja California.

Like La Diabolica, she also carries on this name from an earlier luchadora that wrestled in the 1970s.

She was trained by Fobia, Jose Luis Feliciano, Satanico and El Gladiador, and made her wrestling debut in 1998.

La Medusa lost her mask to India Sioux on August 13, 2006 at the Arena Coliseo DF in a mask-against-mask match.

Medussa wrestles for CMLL.

La Diabólica
La Diabólica

La Diabolica

La Diabolica (The Diabolic One) was born on September 28th, 1965, in Mexico City Mexico.

She is the second luchadora to wrestle under that name.

La Diabolica was trained by Jesse Rojas "El Vasco" and Charro del Misterio, and made her wrestling debut in June of 1986 in Veracruz, Veracruz.

She has held the National Women's Title, the CMLL World Women's Title twice and the Mexico City Women's Championship.

Luna Magica

Luna Magica was born Maria De Los Angeles Aranda Ramirez on October 1st, 19?? in Ciudad Madero, Mexico.

She was trained by luchadores El Mohicano III, Beto Villalobos, Charrito Castillo, Reyes Veloz, Jose Luis Feliciano and El Hijo Del Gladiador, and made her lucha llibre debut on April 8th, 1996.

Esther Moreno
Esther Moreno

Esther Moreno

Esther Moreno is almost a legend in lucha libre.

It seems like her entire family is involved in the sport.

Her father is Alfonso "Acorazado" Moreno, her brother is El Oriental, and three of her sisters are luchadoras, Alda Moreno, Cynthia Moreno and Rossy Moreno.

She was trained by Blue Panther, Gran Hamada and her father, and made her wrestling debut on March 18th, 1984 at Arena Neza in Nezahualcoyotl, Mexico State.

She has held the AJW (All Japan Women) Japanese Tag Team Titles with Cynthia Moreno and the AAA Reina de Reinas Title.

Mima Shimoda's frequent tag-team partner, Hiroka Yaginuma was born on September 23, 1981 in Japan.

She was trained by Mima, Shinobu Kandori, Jose Luis Feliciano and El Hijo Del Gladiador and made her wrestling debut on September 18, 2002.

Hiroka has held the CMLL World Women's Championship.

She is married to Mini-Estrella Pequeño Damián 666.

Together they own a pet shop which I think is a pretty cool outside wrestling endeavor.

Her teacher Mima Shimoda moved to Mexico and the two occasionally tag-team together.

Princesa Blanca

Princesa Blanca

Princesa Blanca was born Blanca Rodriguez on August 28th, 1974 in San Luis Potosa.

She was trained by Tony Salazar, Franco Colombo and Rudy Valentino, and made her lucha libre debut in 1993.

Like a lot of other luchadoras, it seems like her whole family wrestles.

Her husband is Felino, Negro Casas and Heavy Metal are her brother in laws, Pepe Casas is her father-in-law, Kid Tiger and Puma King are her step-sons, and Dalis La Caribeña is her sister-in-law.

Princesa Blanca has held the Mexican National Women's Championship.

Mima Shimoda
Mima Shimoda

Mima Shimoda

Although she's from Japan, Mima Shimoda has made quite a name for herself in Lucha Libre.

Mima was born on December 23rd, 1970 in Tokyo, Japan, and was trained by the legendary Akira Hokuto.

She made her wrestling debut on August 5th, 1987, in a match against Etsuko Mita at the Tokyo Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

In my opinion one of the best heels ever, she moved to Mexico in 2006 and has been wrestling for CMLL.

This is a fairly new luchadora, as in Lolita made her debut on the Mexican Indy wrestling scene in 2008.

She worked for several wrestling promotions like IWRG (Grupo Internacional Revolucion), Desastre Total Ultraviolento (DTU) and Perros del Mal.

But this year (on February 19th, 2011) she made her debut appearance in Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion (AAA).

She was trained by El Cirujano, Gran Apache, Faby Apache and Mary Apache.

This is no small thing as Gran Apache is considered to be one of the best trainers in all of Mexico and he was one of the first luchadors to train women.

Lolita may be a future superstar.

Female Mexican wrestler Shira was born Carolina de la Rosa Juárez on May 25th, 1980 in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico.

She was trained by Reynaldo Trevino and made her lucha libre debut in 1995 at the Plaza de Toros ("bullring") in Ronda, Málaga, Mexico.

(Incidentally, Plaza de Toros is where Madonna shot her music video, Take A Bow)

Shira has done pretty well in Lucha de Apuestas matches, taking the hair of Malena Hernandez and the mask of Vampiresa.

She wrestles for Lucha Libre Feminil (LLF) in Mexico.

Zeuxis - Luchadora - CMLL
Zeuxis - Luchadora - CMLL

Another relative newcomer to Lucha Libre is the masked luchadora Zeuxis (or Seuxis).

She was born on November 3rd, 1988 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Zeuxis was trained by luchadores Negro Navarro, Alimaña, Huracán Ramírez and Satanico, and she made her pro wrestling debut on April 29th, 2008.

She's five feet four inches tall and she weighs in at 141 pounds.

So far she has held the REINA World Tag Team Titles (with La Comandante, who used to be known as La Nazi)

Zeuxis works for the CMLL (Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre) and has a finishing move called "Caballete" (The Stand) that is one of the coolest submission moves I have ever seen.

Princesa Sugey
Princesa Sugey

Princesa Sugey

Another of the most popular masked female wrestlers in Mexico is Princesa Sugey.

No one knows her real name (as is tradition with masked wrestlers in Lucha Libre), but it's generally accepted that Sugey really is her second name.

Sugey was born on June 25th, 1980 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.

She was trained by luchadors Bello Kalifa, Centurión Negro and Carnicero Aguilar and made her wrestling debut on September 22nd, 1996 at the Arena La Junta in Villa Juarez, Nuevo León.

Sugey is five foot one, 119 pounds and is married to luchador Venum II.

She has the nickname "La Caza Canadienses" probably because of the match on April 2nd, 2004 where she defeated and unmasked crowd favorite Dark Angel (also known as Sarah Stock and Sarita) in a grueling and bloody 45 minute battle.

Then on October 2nd, 2008, Sugey unmasked another Canadian luchadora, Goddess.

You'll see her name spelled a variety of ways, Princesa Sugey, Princesa Sugheit, Princesa Sujei just to name a few.

Miss Janeth - Lucha Libre
Miss Janeth - Lucha Libre

Miss Janeth

Janet Fragoso Alonso was born on January 14thy, 1973 in Distrito Federal in Mexico.

Though fans know her better by her ring name, Miss Janeth.

Which is pronounced Jeanette, not Janet.

She was trained by luchadora Zuleyma and luchadors Raúl Reyes, Pepe Casas and Rafael Salamanca.

Miss Janeth made her lucha libre debut on February 25th, 1990 in Arena Coliseo, Mexico City.

Of course Miss Janeth has a large lucha libre wrestling family including Paco Alonso (her uncle), Kato Kung Lee Jr. (her Brother in law), Punker (her husband) and Moahuk (her father-in-law).

Interestingly, one of her trainers was also her sister Zuleyma and she held several Mexican Women's Championships.

On September 7th, 2001, Miss Janeth defeated her sister for the UWA World Women's Championship.

As far as I know, she is now retired.

Mistica (Juany Torres) was born on September 23,19?? in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

She made her lucha libre debut on February 17th, 1999 and has worked mainly for Lucha Libre Femenil (LLF).

Mistica wore her mask until November 19th, 2005 when she lost it in a Luchas de apuestas tag team match.

She and Pancho Tequila (Emilio Villareal Hernández) went up against Black Dragon and Dulce Poly (Sexy Star) in a losing effort.

Dalis La Caribena

This lovely young luchadora is Dalis La Caribena.

She may look cute, but bear in mind that before she ever stepped into a ring, she was an accomplished kickboxer.

And her husband is Negro Casas.

Heck, most of her family are wrestlers like Felino, Heavy Metal, Pepe Casas, Princesa Blanca, Tiger Kid, Puma King and Veneno.

Dalis was born in Panama, she was trained by her husband and she made her lucha libre debut on October 6th, 2009 at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City.

Sexy Lady

Sometimes Luchadors and Luchadoras have very simple names.

Case in point....luchadora Sexy Lady.

Since she debuted in December 2009, I'm gonna say picking that name had nothing to do with the song "Gangnam Style".

She is the cousin of luchadora Ludark Shaitan and was trained by luchadors Dr. Karonte, Platino and Silver King.

Sexy Lady is five foot five and weighs 185 pounds.

Her signature wrestling moves are the Huracarrana, Rana, Plancha and Spinning Headscissors.

Lucha Libre Femenil Luchadora Lady Flamer
Lucha Libre Femenil Luchadora Lady Flamer

Lady Flamer

Also known as "La Niña Luchadora" and "La Niña Maravilla", masked luchadora Lady Flamer made her pro wrestling debut in 2009.
She was born on November 9th, 1999 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and is the daughter of luchador Red Flamer.
And yes...she is only 17 years old.
I can't wait to see where she is in ten years.
So far she has held the Copa Juvenil Lucha Libre Femenil title twice and the Lucha Libre Femenil Tag Team Titles with Lady Puma.

Mexican luchadora Estrella Explosiva
Mexican luchadora Estrella Explosiva

Estrella Explosiva

Mexican luchadora Estrella Explosiva was born on December 25, 1992.
She's one of these luchadoras that there isnt a lot of info on.
We do know she was trained by Gaytan, Calavera Elegante and Roberto Paz, and made her debut in 2008.
We also know she lost a "Cabellera contra cabellera" match to Angelica in 2013 at Arena Femenil in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon and had to shave her head.

Lucha Libre: Life Behind the Mask appears to be a very interesting read. You have some excellent resources for me to begin my quest. Princess Blanca wrestling career and family tree of professional Luchadoras would make an excellent DVD.

When I purchase a satelite dish I will definitely check out some of these popular females of Lucha Libre.
