Top 10 Snowboard movies

Updated on January 10, 2015

Snowboarding Movies

Do you think I'm crazy for wanting to have a snowboard? My children think so. Where I live it doesn't even snow!

In Australia there are only a few places to find snow and that's for about three weeks of the year. It doesn't stop me from wanting to take up the sport myself.

If I can't snowboard myself then at least I can watch movies with lots of snowboarding. Here are the Best 10 Snowboarding movies.

#10 Black Winter

Black Winter
Black Winter

A fascinating movie. Many dangerous and intense scenes. Great snowboarders. Very well planned. Most of it is about park snowboarding, so if you're a fan of big mountain don't get it.

Riders include Torstein Horgmo and Jason Dubois.

#9 Out Cold

Out Cold
Out Cold

Even though it is not precisely a strict snowboarding movie (lots of other things too), I decided to include it in the top 10 because it's really hilarious. It is the most funny movie related to extreme sports. If you enjoy comedies and snowboarding, you will love it.

#8 The Ultimate Ride : Shaun White

The Ultimate Ride: Shaun White
The Ultimate Ride: Shaun White

If you're a fan of the great Shaun White, this is the move you want to get.

It's a story of legendary snowboarder Shaun White who won lots of competitions at a young age. This movie has very nice scenery, music and plot.

#7 The B

The B Movie Snowboard DVD by Burton
The B Movie Snowboard DVD by Burton

Nice and entertaining snowboarding movie by the Burton team. Lots of different locations. Great tricks. Advanced techniques.

If you are a Burton fan, get this NOW.

Riders include Jeremy Jones, Jussi Oksanen, Nicolas Muller, Frederik Kalbermatten, Keegan Valaika, and Shaun White.

#6 Let it Ride

Craig Kelly Story, X-Dance Best Film - Let It Ride Snowboard Documentary DVD
Craig Kelly Story, X-Dance Best Film - Let It Ride Snowboard Documentary DVD

This is a great inspiring movie. It is a wonderful true story of a snowboarder (and later mountain back country rider) Craig Kelly.

Pro riders in this movie include Craig Kelly, Jake Burton and Tom Sims. This title should find its way to every snowboarder's home.

#5 Deeper

The most progressive big mountain snowboarding film that every free rider must see. It's my favourite big mountain snowboarding movie. You get to see things that you didn't know were possible. The production quality is also high, and camera work is great.

#4 : Catch the Vapors

catch the vapors
catch the vapors

A truly wonderful movie. Scenes include everything from park to back-country. Excellent cinematography techniques with pro helicopter shots and close-ups.

However, it's quite slow paced and has a few monotonous places in the movie. Riders include Mark Landvik and John Jackson.

#3 Vivid

Vivid (Snowboarding)
Vivid (Snowboarding)

Vivid is a magnificent snowboarding film. It has few places that make me open my mouth due to the extreme stuff that the characters do. Producers, riders and camera crew have all done excellent work on this one. Riders include Jeremy Jones and Travis Rice.

Also note that the DVD has few extra bonuses at the end

#2 First Descent

First Descent (Widescreen Edition)
First Descent (Widescreen Edition)

One of my favourites. Watched it many times and it's still exciting. Some of the great riders like Shaun White, Hannah Teter, Terje Haakonsen, Shawn Farmer and Nick Perata go to the most challenging and dangerous places to snowboard.

This movie will give you a thrill, that's for sure

#1 That's it That's All

Thats it Thats All
Thats it Thats All

My favourite snowboarding movie ever created. If you like snowboarding, this is a MUST. The production quality is very high and it is clear that the producers know what they are doing. Full of action and stunning scenes this movie is quite addicting. You will love it from the start to the end. The riders include Travis Rice, Nicolas Muller, Terje Hakonsen, Jeremy Jones and John Jackson.

If your budget doesn't allow you to get all of these movies, at least get this one. You will NOT regret it.
