Trek to Annapurna base camp Trek

Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the most diverse trekking trails in the world. This trek takes you through

  • the picturesque classic style villages such as Ghandruk in the Annapurna Region

  • the lush green forests sometimes blanketed by the reds of rhododendron

  • view of a terraced planting system, entire hill covered by the yellow rice crops (similar to China)

  • Ghorepani Poonhill- the rightly regarded “The Photographer’s paradise”.

  • The beautiful and pure yet deadly rivers streaming down from where you are going- the Himalayas.

  • Thundering waterfalls along the way

  • Unchallenged view of the spectacular Annapurna and the neighboring mountains

  • On return you can opt for the Jhinu Danda route where you can give your battered body a well deserved bathe in the natural hot springs.

The Annapurna base Camp trek is usually 10 to 15 days long. Many operators who are able to take you to the Annapurna Base Camp are open to client customized trips. So the length of the trek can vary according to the wish of the trekkers. This is often the case in most of the trips.

The trip price varies accordingly- to the number of days. The more the number of days, the costlier it is. The standard cost for Annapurna Base Camp trek is $150 a day. This will cover most of the things you can think of- from all necessary paperwork to accommodation, from meals and dinners to medical kits, from transportation to porters and guides and a lot more.

The maximum altitude one can get to in this trek is 4130m.

The journey to the Annapurna Base camp begins at Pokhara- another tourist hub in the western part of the country-Nepal. The city is also known as the ‘City of Lakes’- (arrival to Kathmandu, Nepal and Pokhara from there excluded). The clearly visible mountain ranges from Pokhara sets the tone well for the trek.

Since the trips can be customized, only the major stops have been identified here. Colon (:) signifies the end of the day.

  • Annapurna base camp trekking is easy. But Annapurna Expedition is deadly- 41% death rate (53/130 dead). It is actually the most dangerous mountain in the world. Everest has a death rate of 6%.
  • Other popular trekking trails in the Annapurna Region- Annapurna Circuit Trekking, Ghorepani Poonhill Trek and Manaslu Circuit trek.
